Of the Athletes you have met, who was the nicest, and who was the biggest jerk?

Nicest: Darrius Heyward Bey, Chris Long, Tiki Barber, Edwin Williams (who is easily has the best personality for an athlete I have ever met; very smart and a lot of fun to speak to. I hope he cracks the Redskins Roster this year), Boom Osby, the entire Terrapin women's basketball team.

Jackasses: Gilbert Arenas (shocker, right?), Aaron Brooks, Ray Lewis (although I've heard I just got him on a bad day), Greivis Vasquez (dated my cheerleeder friend, so I had the bad fortune of hanging out with him personally; asshole among assholes), Erin Henderson (E.J. Henderson's Brother and fellow Viking)

Nicest: Jeff Jarrett

Jerk: Ozzie Guillen and Joey Cora

Went to Soxfest some years ago. They had a table set up with all the coaches, and went up to get their signatures. Ozzie and Joey spoke all in Spanish to each other and didn't even acknowledge that we were even there.

Pretty jerky to me.

Not had a bad encounter yet with ahtletes. Typically I see them out I leave them alone. Celebs the same way.

Best one was also Flair. Partied with him at this epic 4th of July part off of Lake Wylie years ago.

Live band, lake, unlimited supply of beer, chicks in bikini's and Flair.

Nuff said

Nicest: Dr J

Jerkiest: Dr J

He is actually the only athlete I have ever met, except for some Wake Forest players that use to come in the restaurant I worked in when I was 16. He was very nice by the way. :)

Oh, almost forgot. The guy that sold me my truck use to play Football for Wake Forest when Al Groh was coaching them. He was very nice, but that might have been because he was selling me a truck. :)

NICEST:

Eric Dickerson RB for the Indianapolis Colts. My Buddy and I hung out with him for an entire afternoon in Atlanta. Not at all of what you would think of a NFL player. Especially at the time, one that was making as much mney as he was.

Rapid Robert Feller: Bob Feller was a famous Major League pitcher. He was at the Grady Cole Center for a Sports Card show. He was happy to sign autographs, tell stories, joke with everyone.

Big Daddy Don Garlits: I met him in his museum in Florida. I had called him to try and get him to do a deal with 1320 inc. (1320 INC makes 1/24 SCALE old time dragsters and funny cars. I designed the "Fueler" series of front engined dragsters for them.) You get "Big" talking about space aliens and you will never get away from him!

Any IRL/Indy Car racer. Buddy Lazier, Scott Goodyear, Robert Guerrero (I used to get Christmas cards from him and his wife.)

Eddie Cheever: IRL Racer. He was so cool, that his crew put my then fiancee into his IRL car, put the racing harness on her and even put the cowling around her.

Don Prudhomme: My Buddy and I met him at Brainerd, Minnesota for a funny car exhibition drag meet. We were standing there taking pictures of him and his funny car, the Pepsi Challenger. He stopped and started talking to us like we were his long lost friends.

Doug Herbert: NHRA Top Fuel. If you ever get a chance to go to his open house during the Summer Go!

Larry Bird: I went to college with him. I had dinner with the entire 1979 Sycamore team that fell to Magic Johnson in the NCAA finals!

BIGGEST A-HOLES:

Pete Rose! He has to top my list. As one of the biggest boyhood idols for me growing up! When I met him, he could care less about the people around him. It was all about making money for him! wouldn't pose for pictures with anyone.

Ray Evernham. Jeff Gordon's crew cheif at the time. My then fiancee and I were up to the Hendrick shops and they had tape on the floor where you could stand a watch the action. She had stepped past the tape, like the width of her shoe to take a picture. Evernham saw this, came over and proceeded to chew us out for not staying behind the tape. I wanted to punch him out!

Johnny Unitas: I wouldn't put him into the "Biggest" catagory, but when I asked him about the Indianapolis Colts, he make it quite clear that he wanted nothing to do with them. The man was very bitter that they had moved. (As evidence you could see him on the sidelines of Raven's games.)

I have met sooo many people over the years from NASCAR, NHRA, Baseball, Indy Car (IRL), Football, even some from Hockey. IRL (Indy Car) & NHRA are more fan friendly than NASCAR drivers. Hockey players are more friendly than Football, Baseball and Basketball players.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
