Frustrating loss for us tonight.

Obviously ESPN was trying to push the Love storyline but the real story of the game was Scheyer mismanaging the rotation and the offense.

Arizona's a physical team that packs the paint, but the offense was standing around so much and not doing much to get their defenders to move out of the lane.

No clue why Ryan Young got so many minutes over Sean Stewart, who would have countered some of Arizona's physicality. Likely would have made the difference. I suspect it has something to do with him struggling in practice.

Still, Scheyer is just starting his second year and will figure it out at some point. Our next game is against an also-physical Michigan State team, so I'm really interested to see how we run our offense and manage the rotation.

Caleb got that Dawg in HIm!

Forever a TarHeel!

Even though Love’s UNC story wasn’t the best ending he has cemented himself as a Tar Heel. Gave K his last L at home, Scheyer his first L at home, and most importantly an L in the Final Four matchup.

Caleb wrote “Tar Heel 4 Life” on the bottom of his shoes last night, that’s all class from a young kid who had his ups and downs at UNC.

Also happy for Coach Rob, he left UNC to take a job at Arizona a few years ago; so two former Tar Heels came away with a win last night.

The MSU game all of a sudden has become very important. Duke's got a tough non-con schedule this year; it softens up for a bit after the MSU game but there's also @Arkansas down the road which seems like it'll be a very tough matchup in it's own right. Hoping to see some progress and hopefully, Mark Mitchell will be at 100% for this game.

Absolutely, and MSU will be really desperate for a big-time win after their debacle on opening night.

We've also got that game against Baylor at MSG, so there are chances to pick up some good wins and see what this team is made of.

Mitchell really needs to learn to slow down a bit on offense, but as you said, I wonder if he's not quite playing at 100% health.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
