They might have Cam'd him. Trying to play a QB through a rotator cuff injury on his throwing arm is just fuging idiotic.

I was thinking the same thing. He hasn’t looked good the past few games. I didn’t realize he had a rotator cuff issue but it was pretty obvious he wasn’t right. One thing to be rusty, another to be legit hurt. Stupid to play him at all when it was obviously hurt already.

How do you feel about him coaching Howell?

It would be better for Howell. Unlike Rivera, BB doesn’t skimp on OL. Rivera with Hurney did almost nothing OL drafting wise. DG liked hog mollies so he at least added Turner, Norwell, Moton, Williams and some FAs but as soon as Rivera hooked back up with Marty, Trent Williams got traded and they did little to add OL again. BB has used many higher draft picks on OL. Seemed like OL and D, especially secondary were BB’s strong points in terms of development.

Belichick isn't a great drafter either (as was mentioned elsewhere by someone else).

He lived for years off of Dante Scarnecchia being one of the best OL coaches in football, but since Scarnecchia retired yhe Patriot lines have been nowhere near as good.

Rivera's indifference toward OL really is pretty astonishing. It 100% followed him to Washington so he likely wasn't a victim of poor OL roster management here. He was probably the one begging for resources to be spent elsewhere.

I can't see him coming here. No way he'd be interested in being micromanaged by Tepper. But those two egos colliding would be must watch TV. 😂

Main reason why I was all for Harbaugh coming here.
He would tell the Teppers to get out and let the professionals do their job.
It would be entertaining to see them go head to head.
Which one can be more stubborn. I

BB has drafted 16 OL who have been multi-year starters, 4 of whom were pro-bowlers. That doesn’t include the multiple 2023 OL drafted that haven’t had a chance yet. Some really good OL in the non-pro bowlers like Nate Solder.

Scarnecchia was the NE OL coach one year before BB and basically the entire career of Brady with BB. When Brady left, Scarnecchia left. BB drafted OL on day 1/day 2 a lot so he brought in talent as well.

NE has had solid OL with all 3 of them. How much of an affect Brady leaving had versus Scarnecchia, we don’t really know. Brady has always been one of the absolute best QBs at stepping up and avoiding pressure so that to Cam and Mac is a big reason for a drop off. Losing your 20 year OL coach is a big reason. Losing Thuney and Shaq Mason to FA is a big reason as well.

It is funny that Belichick is now a sucky coach who lived off of everyone else. Brady was a stud. He may have made BB look good and he may have made Scarnecchia look good as well. NE has dropped off a lot because they drafted at the bottom of the 1st for a long time and when Brady left, there was a mass exodus, like both really good guards and OL coach. They are in a talent rut right now, so you can make your contrarian statement like you often do but there’s enough evidence that BB can draft OL well and that he’d be much better than Rivera for Howell’s well being.

The stark contrast between Rivera/Hurney (here and Washington) and Rivera/Gettleman is astonishing.

It's been pretty bad since around 2016.  Unsure how that lines up with a lot of changes there but outside of Duggar, Wise, think it can be argued it's one of the worst in the league.  Mac Jones and their punter the only pro bowlers since 2016.  Jury is still out on Strange, he's up and down.  Thuney (and maybe Shaq Mason) are their only draft hits on the OL in over 10 years.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
