Doesn't Zac Taylor call the plays in Cincinnati?

As far as the general public is concerned yes, he does call the plays. Just like any other situation where the HC is calling plays but still has an OC, who knows what that mechanism looks like behind the scenes.

I had read something about Callahan giving us a leg up to get Tee. That's cool, but I still want us to draft a quick-twitch route runner in the draft.

I like that you put route runner.  it seems we don't value this trait too much.  We are looking at players that perform well in college but do not have the route running skills necessary for the NFL.

I'd rather a good route running speedster than a player that might be faster but runs poor routes.

I at least hope we get more information soon regarding second interviews. Interesting to remember last year Gannon and Steichen got hired like the day after the Super Bowl. So if the Ravens make a run to the Super Bowl which they're favored to do, and we end up targeting one of their coordinators an official announcement won't be made until mid February. Which is fine, I really hope we're in no rush to hire a coach just to hire one.

Not sure it's gonna be today because of the games.

Tomorrow morning, maybe...

Callahan has been on the head coaching radar for a while now.

Of the GM list, Halaby is the one I'd absolutely not want. The Athletic story about him being part of the toxic atmosphere that helped force Doug Pederson out in Philly reads like an even worse version of the "Hunger Games" story from the Panthers this year.

Brandon Brown would be my favorite at the moment, but I'd hire Dan Morgan before I'd want Halaby.

I agree, a bit uncomfortable with the whole Eagles org and the culture.

    • That he gets worse while at the same time getting more exposure is just typical.
    • And, yes, I've been a slow boil, but watching continually watching shitty displays of football for weeks has me frustrated.
    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
