49ers offense was bad the entire game.

Expecting Wilks to save them the entire game + overtime was asking for trouble.

Purdy is a game manager.

I don't think the 49ers offense was quite as bad as you say.  They played pretty well, it wasn't like they didn't move the ball.  The game went to OT!

The sad part is the Chiefs are going to likely add a big time WR in FA.

This team isn't going anywhere as long as Mahomes is around. This sucks as a NFL fan. Didn't think we would see another dynasty after the Patriots.

Yeah, as long as Mahomes is that dude they're gonna be right there. Reid retiring would be a big curve ball but it's not like they wouldn't have their pick of the litter for their next coach. Kelce retiring would be big.

But yeah, I expect them to go weapon shopping this season. They gotta find a RT too. That dude is trash.

The crazy thing is I don't know if ANYONE knew who Patrick Mahomes was before he was drafted outside of Texas Tech fans. One day I would really like to hear/see the in depth story of how Mahomes was scouted on and ultimately picked by the Cheifs.

He wasn't some random though, many had him as a 1st rounder, walterfootball (just an easy quick reference) had him 3rd behind Trubisky and Watson and had him projected 1st round.

Also the story of the Chiefs' scouting on him has already come out to some degree. I'll see if I can find an article but Brett Veach before he was GM was scouting some Texas Tech OL and saw Mahomes and started pounding down everyone's door there to get him for a few years. Ultimately they listened to him and he got promoted to GM and the rest is history...

Yeah, he was considered a legit 1st rounder. Everyone raved about his arm talent and backyard football abilities but everyone also rightfully questioned how that would translate to the NFL. That style of play has always meant having to stomach high turnover numbers before Mahomes showed up. The guy is a cheat code. You're not supposed to be able to play like he does without turning the ball over.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
