Let's not go too crazy with OL upgrades

Don’t really disagree. They were actually really good the year before. I’m not saying ignore them totally, maybe take a swing at a C in the middle rounds, but let’s see if the new staff can get the guys we have clicking again. If they just suck, well this year is a sunk year anyway. They can just contribute to getting as high a draft pick as possible for our new QB and THEN we can go crazy on OL heh. I’m not convinced the group we have is a lost cause though. They weren’t good last year (though not as bad as a lot of people think) but they were literally the strength of the offense the year before.

Any Oline upgrades and changes should be based on what the new HC wants to do, not the guys they have now and what they feel best suits those guys. As has been pointed out, the NFL is a passing league. Playing Foxball just won't win a lot of games anymore.

If they need all new starters to fit the HC's scheme, then so be it. Draft and sign them. This coming season isn't about winning anyway. It's about changing the franchise culture and player development. In other words, it's about laying the foundation to win in the future, like this last season was supposed to have been.

I agree to not overreact but we absolutely need to target better depth and a potential upgrade at C and LT.

Bozeman is a huge question mark. He was average for BAL. Good then great down the stretch for Wilks and then awful last year. And it’s not all scheming or the players next to him injured or underperforming..he straight up got bullied at times last year.  Icky regressed enough that I’d like to see some considerations had with him ant G… and if we have the talent and depth at both G spots, then LT becomes a need again.

Bozeman had a baby, the wife did anyway. We forget that there are things outside the team that players have to deal with that does impact their football job. I knew he was gonna have a rough year when I saw that. Probably got zero sleep. Then goes to work where he has a baby he is snapping the ball to, and guys beside him that... well let me just say I don’t know if I have ever seen worse than Zavala.

In general all you had to do is flip flop what gap you are rushing with your teammate and Panthers OL won’t touch you. Never seen such unintelligent OL play. I hate to say it but damn, Campen. That was a pretty poor job.

I believe if they focus on the G positions Bozeman will be adequate for the rest of his deal.

We literally have the worst roster in the NFL.  We are the team who can legit take BPA with every draft pick and we will be able to say that guy can help us if he pans out.

That’s absolutely true

however

the panthers have made it abundantly clear, that its all about bryce, all the time

…unless free agency answers that need, all bryce, all the time

not a bad thought. I don't disagree. I do believe it may be time to draft a center tho. Last center we drafted was ryan Kahlil. so yeah... take that with a grain of salt rounds 4-7

There are some good centers in the draft that could step in right away. Bozeman scared me last year, but hard to give him too much grief when he is flanked by those reserve guards.  Bozeman did have some history at G somewhere at some point, so an internal OG/C would be nice.

OL was decent when asked to play football like it was 1990.  To an extent that's still a problem given that's not what you want to do in the year 2024.

It is just hard to say when your Guards are all Pro flag footballers from Jersey.

Some good points being made here, and I feel the love, y'all.  I appreciate the insights because it helps me be all I can be.

When Roger goes to the podium with the Bears pick, I will be on suicide watch.  Give me a reason to live, people.

There's always the hope that he trips on his way to the microphone and somehow falls into the audience where the crowd parts to let him hit the ground instead of catching him to crowd surf. That'd take the sting away for 2.7 seconds or so.

Like what you did with the 2.7 seconds.  Told my wife that was my new rule.   She asked if that includes foreplay.  Dang that woman!
