I have to say that I agree with you. His first year I took a wait and see approach to his moves. After that first season I was very skeptical of him and when he turned down the Rams offer for Burns that's when I knew we were screwed. The trade up in the draft finished it off. I began to hate the guy and that was it for me.

...hes godda be finished in the NFL...abhorred would be a compliment ...

Baker literally was Baker everywhere but Carolina.   And we proved in that window, we could even make Sam Darnold look worse than NY Sam.

I mean, I'll concede Geno. That's a legit example of a QB being different.  But that also Geno stepping into a team that was winning 10+ every season for a decade.

I mean, I'm just at the show me stage.  I'm not buying into hype any longer.  Past 4 years have all been the same thing.  Just doesn't feel any different for me yet.

Baker was baker everywhere?  He definitely had the best season of his 6 last year.  Im not even saying Canales was responsible.   Why are people getting so defensive about listing the 3 qbs he has worked with in his career?

Yeah, those “in on every deal”

or “Fittmagic” comments were tired from the start

Canales was there before Wilson as WR coach. He became QB coach in 2018 and in 2019 Wilson had his second team All Pro selection. He was not all pro before that.

Yea regardless of what these people want to argue,  or if you want to say he had little impact or not.  Every qb he has worked with had their best statistical season while he was working with them.

I think some fans are very guarded about any positive comments or hype after the past couple seasons.  Regardless there has been a trend of QBs playing better when Canales is involved. Hopefully that is the case here too!

Yea I definitely get it but right now until camps start, words and hope are all we have.   Taking everything  as its most negative variable seems like a miserable way to be a fan.  I always feel more negatively than positively I suppose but always taking everything as possible worst case scenario seems almost pointless to be a fan.  Whats the fun in being a fan that way.

Wilson was a 5 time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ before Canales became a QB coach.    Point is simply you can’t credit him as a QB whisperer with Wilson as an example of it.

Nah, Baker definitely wasn’t better than he was a couple seasons he had in Clev.  I mean, he was that guy.  That’s the dude we thought we were getting.  We just happen to be a QBs worst nightmare.

Bakers best seasons are his 11-5 season, his rookie season and his Tampa season.  You can play with the order but you do it because it’s all comparable.  Literally no QB in NFL history produces an identical final stat line in different years….there is always going to be some slight difference.

the defensive part….is being defensive about Canales.  Because the only QB you can claim he was a QB whisperer for was Geno….the dude that walked in on a team that won 10+ for a decade.

Canales had 1 year as a NFL OC  where he lead the 20th ranked O in a trash division.   And only Carolina talked to him.  Everyone isn’t going to be searching and arguing everything to positive given our consistent track record.

Maybe he surprises.  Maybe Morgan too.  They certainly aren’t excitable hires though

Yeah, people forget the hype and talk last offseason.  Fittterer was highly praised here overall.

I just didn’t see it then.  Don’t see it now.  Last time I really was optimistic was Rhule’s first year in that Covid season.  Suspect every offseason since.

and that excitement came crashing down when we signed Teddy.

You can spin the Baker thing either way honestly.  He is definitely streaky, but his first year in Tampa DC had him playing at his peak.  He was on his 4th team in 2 years so let's no pretend like he was the guy and we were just that bad.  I mean he did have CMC and Moore with us and no doubt we were much worse than Tampa and Cleveland, but he was in a bit of a rut and struggling after that injury in Cleveland.  Sam Darnold outplayed him and took the job back from him on the same roster.  Canales helped him get his confidence back and play back to his top form again.  I believe he was up for comeback player of the year?  It wasn't as impressive as his work with Geno, but it was still something to be proud of IMO.  Bucs fans seemed pretty upset as a whole that we took him from them which sounds like a good thing.

So if other teams had been chasing him it would have made it a better hire?  How much of that is on your perspective as a fan.  For the most part the best coaching hires are never the big name coaches everyone is chasing and the media is drooling over when you look back at it.  Canales was far from my first choice as well.   As a fan though I see no reason not to at least hope for the best and statistically speaking nothing said about his history with QBs is untrue.

Teams generally don’t chase after a 1 year OC who ran a bottom of the league offense….in a bad division.

l mean, Tepper worked himself into a corner.  He hired what he could.  Hopefully they surprise.

but this is just the past 4 offseason on repeat in terms of how large % is going to view what Carolina is doing.  Last year Fitterer created the best team since 2003.  Easily contend for the playoffs.  People were willing to spin McAdoo and Rhule as a good pairing the year prior.  We were going to save Sam Darnold and Teddy was a clown for daring to question  this staff.

we are the worst team in professional sports.  Being a fan doesn’t mean I need to pretend each year they have figured it out and are now smart….no one else even looked at our HC/GM.  What would a reasonable guess be as to why only the worst team in all of pro sports going there be?

I don’t need the Panther to be good.  Good or bad, they are my team and entertaining.  I mean if things look suspect that’s just how I feel and say it…if I was a Steeler fan and my coach/team found a way every year no matter what to win….well, I’d lean toward them be smarter than me and blindly optimistic.  Teams earn what they earn.

    • TJ Tampa all day with our first pick. That guy knows how to play CB. His very similar to Horn, and could start by mid season. He’s a steal in the 4th. Good grief.
    • I think some question almost failed for a number of reasons. Some job was here. Chums don't want to go deep into using this. If you want full confidence in your Sugar Defender, that should be 100% secure and safe. I suppose that there is a trial period. Doing this is rather exhilarating. Leave that out at your own peril. I renegotiated this belief with myself. That's just eye candy. I'm going to detail the things that I use. These dabblers are often referred to as Sugar Defender aficionados. official website: • There's probably not a receiving tight end here who's an immediate upgrade over the guys we have, unfortunately. Just not a good draft for that position. Cade Stover's cool, but that is a converted linebacker, not a natural receiver. And yes, I know about JT Sanders, but he's not the caliber of athlete that our FO targets, or frankly the kind that usually ends up succeeding at tight end. Athleticism concerns probably knock out TJ Tampa, as well, unless they see him converting to safety. I'd love Malik Washington but it seems like one of Legette or Mingo can be a dynamic big slot. Honestly, I could talk myself into five or six receivers--it's a really, really deep class--but after spending pretty serious assets at every single starting position on offense except tight end, we can probably chill on offense.  Jaden Hicks looks nice. Dorlus is a legit NFL defensive linemen and there are never enough of those. Any pass rusher with a pulse would be cool. Khyree Jackson is the kind of long corner that they might like, even though he will be a 25 year old rookie. It's the fourth round. Lots of solid players, nobody really exciting.
