Panthers Select Jonathan Brooks RB - 46th Pick, Round 2

Sanders was a 5 yds per carry career guy over 4 seasons until he came to this dumpster fire of coaching and OL injuries.

It's not insane to think he could be more productive in a new system behind a bolstered interior line. Cutting him helps nothing.

The very best scenario is to give him the ball and if he looks good hope for a mid season trade for something while Brooks gets back to 100%. Such as a serious contender responding to injuries needing vet help. (Chiefs, etc)

I don't think Sanders has the value you think he does. Right now I wouldn't trade a bag of chips for his services.  Fitterer was an idiot for giving him that contract. He's the number 2 RB in this crappy team and he's paid like a number 1. I hope he's cut the 1st chance they get.

unless he totally lights it up in the offseason, he'll end up being 3rd. Chuba has already shown his value. Brooks is about to.

Non of that is relevant to my point though.

I'm not saying he's worth being traded for based on his year on the Panthers. I'm suggesting that he may be more like his career average and a contender might need vet rotational piece and some deal could be made that's any tiny bit better than just dumping him.

Why all the blind hate for our picks before stepping on to the turf people-  I’m going to go ahead and continue to follow the Hurricanes

I hope so. But just don't see it. It would be nice if Dan could pull it off.

My hate? I was referring to Sanders the RB. Me thinks you've misjudged the situation.

Here it is afaic: RBs all come in, coaches put them in the hopper and figure out who they like best.

Despite Sanders’ money.... I mean I would lean towards using him, but I guess there is the chance someone beats him out. In the case of someone else being clearly better, I would take whatever hit came with releasing him (and I think he deserves that to happen in time to allow him to find another job).

Right now he can get there and compete, like the rest of the team should be doing.

We couldn't give a 5th and Sanders with that contract. Never going to happen. Said as much when we signed him. Of course the blind homers shat all over the Lawn Guy.

I thought it was a bad contract at the time and it looks even worse now.

Donnelly thinks they reached, but says D n D are trying to create an old school Panthers team: defense, running the ball, and a QB that does just enough to help get the win.

In other words, Foxball is back.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.
    • yeah I was hoping  that we stayed put & drafted Levis at #9  i even said on here after we foolishly traded up for Bryce Young that I would not be surprised whatsoever if the Bears were picking #1 overall with our pick this year but what ...just saying
