How was someone a Heisman favorite after a few games vs bad competition?

Honestly it's still too early to name a favorite for Heisman. Usually week 10 is when the Heisman conversation becomes serious.

Because he beat the heck out of michigan.

Sanders/Ewers/Ward

Milroe is interesting, but I view him more as a raw prospect. If he keeps this play up for an entire season he might jump to #1. I low-key wanted him in the later rounds after we draft Hunter or Tmac.

Like you with Hunter and Sanders, I have been "that guy" flying the Milroe flag.

Now we see that more people are paying attention and he is rocketing up draft boards. I even saw him referred to as Lamar with a better arm.

A better-passing Lamar should be an automatic pick. We will need to use our #1 to get him. The dumbest, most Panther thing to do would be to skip him because he's an Alabama QB. Same uniform yes, but different day, different era, different coach.

There's still room on the Milroe bandwagon, but it's getting crowded fast...you can even see Mel elbowing his way to the front seats.

Kyle McCord is an interesting one. Played behind Stroud at OSU. Has a strong arm and has Syracuse at 4-1. He might be a good mid round guy to develop,

Connor Weigman could also be a midround guy to look at it. Accurate, seems to make good decisions and has a strong arm.

Vanderbilt says slow your role.

He was balling, but damn that was a bad loss. I still view him more as a project QB. He has the talent for sure he just needs to be coached up to get that full potential.

Agree it was a bad loss, but there were only 45 states the last time that defense gave up that many to Vandy. 35 points has been enough to beat them for almost 120 years.

That said I'm now focused on how he responds on the field. He's said all the right things, but now I need to see that he won't go into the fetal position with his play--both in his will and the coach's trust in him. He turned the ball over on the ground and through the air and his pick six was literally the difference between a win and loss.

If he goes back to beast mode, then all is good and he's still a 1st rounder. If he wills them back to the playoff, he's probably in the top 10-15. If they win the title, the bigger question will be if Tep has the onions to take another Bama QB at #1.

I think Milroe is the perfect fit for Canales.

Milroe’s deep ball combined with his ability to run is a match made in heaven for what Dave wants to do

Is Canales known to run his QBs?  Baker and Geno Smith didn't really run too much?

6. Carolina Panthers

Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

"Deion Sanders would never let his son go to the Panthers." This is the time of year when this stuff gets brought up. Yet, it seldom happens. Remember when Caleb Williams was going to avoid the Bears or not sign unless he got team ownership? I'll believe we'll get another Eli Manning situation the next time it actually happens. Instead, knowing there is no real safety net option in free agency, let's take a fresh swing at a young quarterback with Dave Canales. Shedeur Sanders is my early QB1 because of his arm talent and ability to thrive amongst the chaos in the pocket. I'm excited to see how he grows under NFL coaching.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
