which in turn gives me hope that we arent married to BY for 2 more years

That's what I hope.  I think based on the little we have seen from Canales....a young Jake Delhomme is a better pairing for his O than what Bryce brings.   Which is why Baker rebounded with him.  Seattle, Bucs.  All about the type throws Leggette is a fix for.   It's chunk plays.

did he "rebound" or did he just revert back to his norm after getting away from this terrible franchise?

to me those are basically the same thing.  Baker just went back to being Baker.  Carolina was the anomaly for him.

XL has great hands, that’s what I learned. Almost all the deep passes that were in his vicinity were caught. Screen passes aren’t his forte though. He needs to be fed crossing routes and deep shots. He’s deadly on those crossing routes if he’s hit in stride…hope Young learns to do that.

I think he can do screens well, the blocking was horrible and it would get blown up before it got started.  The clips that had good blocking he did well on

How the hell did Rattler get drafted? Legette could have had 200-300 more yards with a good QB. Rattler has no anticipation on his throws plus terrible placement the ball ahead of the receiver. Legette has to wait on so many throws.

And the QB before Rattler was worse! People are like well he only had one year of production. Analysts and malcontents always move the goal posts when they want.

Rattler was like going from Clausen to Delhomme.   And the pass game was weak with Rattler.  But the Gamecocks weren’t a SEC during that window before Rattler.

If he can get the corner he has the jets for it, but he doesn’t have quick change of direction for getting around people if they get to the backfield

See, I think Leggette is better suited to play w/ a Rattler.  Rattler gambles, has an arm and plays aggressive.

Bryce wants players to be Bama college open or he is going safe more often than not.  Leggette is a let me try to make a play WR.

I disagree. For better or worse Bryce likes to throw floaters to predetermined areas regardless of what the reciever is doing and bringing those down is XL's bag. I wanted Ladd but I think this was right call. Burners and slot recievers are a dime a dozen but legit jump ball specialists are not.

I know we're in the hopium phase of the year right now but this is all over the game film that every defense we face is going to be waiting for. If Bryce keeps doing this sooner or later we are going to be stuck arguing over why this or that receiver sucks because they can't bail out Bryce all the time. Legette would just be next in line. Bryce is a first overall pick. He's got to figure out how to get some more torque out of his arm. These yarns about his frame and this and that just seem like an excuse to justify him not wanting to lift weights. He's got to match the output of his offensive counterparts who have been putting in the work.

i think part of his game prep is memorizing where everyone is supposed to be at any point within a play and then counting on them to be near there...that's what i recall anyways, could be wrong there. but what i remember is he throws where people are supposed to be so they just have to be near there and able to make the play for the ball when they aren't in perfect position for the catch.

that makes guys like XL more important for bryce. Diontae will help because he can shake loose of coverage. i think that Coker does some of that as well.

Well, agree to disagree.  I think big play jump ball WRs like Leggette are best paired with downfield gunslinger types.  A Jake Delhomme.  They want to make plays downfield and take risks.

that’s not Bryce. Bryce occasionally throwing a strategic floater or to someone legit open isn’t the same thing as the just  letting dudes try to make a play mindset.

I don’t think the Panthers have ever accepted what they drafted at QB.  And there coaching hires and front offices reinforce that belief for me.   I still think they are setting up a bad marriage again for Bryce.

Frank, you know what I think about Young’s arm (subpar).

I don’t understand how weight lifting helps get velocity on a throw.

Maybe lower body stuff combined with streamlining and tightening up his mechanics?
