Reports coming out that Mack Brown intends on returning next year. Carolina has to just pay them man his contract and tell him he's retired. The program is being held hostage currently. I don't want this to turn political but it's the best comparison I can make. It feels like Joe Biden where the pitch was to bring in this old man to right the ship and return to normalcy but then once in the old man doesn't want to give it up.

How does he recruit though?

UNC doesn't care about football. Brown will continue to coach as long as he wants to. Until UNC gets serious about football these are the decisions they will continue to make.

There is already talk of a renovation or a new basketball arena for UNC. It will always be a basketball program until they bring someone in on the football who's serious about competing on the football side.

It's not going to be a reno it's probably going to be a state of the art facility built next door where the skipper boules lot is.  The dean dome is 40 years old and once you start trying to upgrade things problems tend to snowball

That's a lot of history in that building. I prefer they just renovate, but I wouldn't be mad at a new building either.

Yeah just offer him some cushion advisor job where he can even help recruit. You can’t keep running things as they are.

I’m not a Carolina fan as I’m sure you know, but when he came back didn’t he say he was only staying 5 years?  Just long enough to rebuild the program?  Wasn’t that 6 years ago?  Maybe I’m wrong and it hasn’t been that long but it feels like it

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
