What could they realistically get for Bryce??

Personally don't think it's a good idea to trade the #1 pick in the draft after 18 games. That's too early to completely give up on him.

Well, give up or not, you paid big time for 4 years of control and the 5th year option. If you were certain he just was a drag on things you may not care about that but that isn't nothing.

For one thing that should really attractive to a suitor, if there are any. And there are always suitors for QBs.

The play is to have that Buffalo drive in an official game, even if it is just garbage time. I don't see non garbage time defenses giving him anything but if somehow you could get a matchup where he could look good then you stick him in there and hope he can look like more than he is.

Maybe you can get a much better return.

If they really think he is an NFL starter then no way they should trade him. I actually trust the staff to make that call.

The thing is...its not about the pick. It's about the player drafted at that pick. Bryce was always a special case, the rare red flags were there. Smallest qb ever, no arm strength for the nfl, no physical traits that stand out. You don't have those discussions about most qbs that come out no matter where they are drafted.  And those things can't be coached up. That was always the concern and sets him apart from everybody else.

If people want to put it all on the Panthers, let them if the price is right.

If that is the plan.

Yeah, but dude has regressed in 2 games this season. These are throws he's made before - in the NFL. These are reads he's made before - in the NFL. Something ain't right with him. And it isn't physical. It's mental. He has much better protection, much better receivers and a much better scheme. He should be playing better.

But then again, do you want a mentally weak guy on your team - at QB? Maybe I've convinced myself...

If there was a belief in Bryce why the fug did they bench him???

Because he is a disaster. He was getting no better at all. Hurting the team.

But the FoMO is real, they want to try and fix him a little and see if he responds with better play, I guess.

    • Who is "they"?  Who in the media still argues that Bryce Young could reach the levels that people thought he would before the draft? I mean, nobody is going to come outright and bash the kid.  By all accounts he's a good dude and I think that is why you don't see the media come after him like they did Zach Wilson.
    • It started during the Denver game after that first drive. i don’t think the panthers got a first down again until the fourth quarter.
    • The Panthers will finish with at least 7-8 wins.  So that leaves them with only two "smart" choices in my opinion: 1. Sign a reasonably priced free agent QB and see if they are better than Bryce Young in training camp - The issue is there will be very little options.  There is almost no way the Colts let Daniel Jones walk.  Rodgers, Flacco, and Wilson will likely retire (and is Wilson better than Bryce anyway?).  Winston is under contract with the Giants for another year.  That leaves Mariota, which I'm all for, but the Commanders will make a big push to keep him given Daniels' injury history.  Outside of him, there is literally nobody else. 2. Stick with Bryce Young for one more year - Nobody wants this to happen, but the Panthers won't be in a position to draft one in the first round and it isn't a strong class to begin with.  Mendoza, Simpson (and do we really want an Alabama QB?), and Moore will likely all be off the board by the time we pick.  Bryce isn't good, but we are still 5-4.  I'd rather continue to build the rest of the team than reach for a QB.  Then we could set ourselves up nicely in 2027 to make a splash play if we choose.  This is how we should have approached years past; stuck with Kyle Allen or Sam Darnold or Teddy Bridgewater and kept building the team until we were ready to make a splash.  But every year we panicked and did something stupid. There is the idea you could throw a dart at a guy in the later arounds, but IMO this just isn't a good QB class and odds are it will be a wasted pick.  I still think we need a lot of depth on the defense.  I'd rather focus there.
