Normally with a high pick I'm inclined to take something like a stud DE, but I've noticed young DE's seem to take a year or two to develop against the run.  That's the last thing we need right now.  I'd lean toward addressing DE in free agency and use the draft to build up the interior of the line and the linebacking corps.  A force of nature beside Derrick Brown is exactly what this team needs to get back to the playoffs.

We've beefed up the o-line.  Now we need to do the same with the D line.  Luckily, it doesn't seem we need to spend much time or resources on skill positions, so we should have the ability to focus on defense.

I agreed with everything up till the very end. I still think this team needs a number one wr and te.

Seems a lot still look at defense here through a 4-3 base lens.

If you draft Graham, we need to cut and save with Ashawn at DE. Robinson has been average, but uncharacteristically bad vs the run. Unsure if it’s because he gets the attention with Tuttle (average) and Ray (really bad)…but it’s a problem.

In addition, Graham he could play interior in our Nickel looks where we’ve slotted Harris who was wretched.

So after some consideration, the fit could work well with Brown. But we would still need a focused attention at upgrading our OLB. We need an upside pass rusher there badly.

I love Graham as our pick but, I am so conflicted with the possibility of T-Mac as the ‘throw it up and he’ll go get it’ contested catch option for Bryce.  [Why shouldn’t the Panthers have their own version of Mike Evans?  Why shouldn’t we have nice things, too?]

I don’t think we could go wrong with either but, if we do skip defense in round 1, we need to go defense the rest of the draft, especially front seven positions. This is a great dilemma to be in, win-win with either pick.

Same boat. I see Graham as 1a and T-Mac as 1b.

I think the problem with this draft is outside of Travis Hunter at CB, I don't know if there are any "elite"/Blue chip level talents. Like Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers etc.

I think their are some "very good"/red chip players. I think Mason Graham falls into this. Will Johnson probably does as well. Not sure yet if Abdul Carter does or TMAC.

So even if we end up with a top 4 pick. I'm not sure we are getting a blue chip talent.

I still maintain you can make an argument for drafting almost every single position in this draft at some point so just get the best player available in round 1 or do a small trade down

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
