It's the rookie salary cap all over again.

They never learned on that one. They had to change the CBA but that was a chance that all current members benefitted from since limiting rookie money meant more cap available for them. A max contract stipulation would have to be written into the CBA to fix the current problem.

While we are talking 49ers keep an eye on us trading or signing Deebo.

Carolina guy who is a mentor for XL. Maybe he can bring that DAWG out of XL. This team needs weapons.

Deebo is taking a lot of heat of his own for a big drop at the worst time in last nights game against the Rams. And while I despise the Niners and don't blame him for feeling some type of way about things at times if you're wanting him to be a mentor he hasn't exactly handled things as well as he could have that's just being realistic.

If he's willing to take a reasonable deal we should consider it but no way should we break the bank for him. If he still wants that record breaking contract he can get it somewhere else.

We are not in position to be picky. I definitely would take Deebo at 20mil over a guy like Higgins for 40mil.

Also Deebo is more than a WR. We could use him all over the field. He's more than a pass catcher. I think we have to consider him.

Not necessarily a max contract stipulation, but rather a realization that devoting so much to a single, albeit extremely important, position can seriously hinder the teams ability to compete. I would lean more towards and offense and defensive cap, say a 40-60% dedication of resources one way or the other.

Absolutely we should consider it and kick the tires at least. Due diligence.

If you have to make excuses and blame injuries as to why your QB is struggling that tells me all I need to know. Last I check Kittle and Jennings are still one of the better TEs and WRs in the league. Even with guys like CMC and Trent injured they still have more weapons than we currently have.

What Bryce is doing is more impressive than what Purdy is doing. Keep in mind the rosters of both QBs.

Purdy isnt struggling he is 8th in nfl in qbr and 10 in total yards after missing 2 games.  He is expected to make the probowl this year.  The 49ers in general have a worse record than they are use to due to all the injuries on defense and offense.  And yes you are right a number one overall pic winning 3 games in 2 years averaging dead last in every category up the the last 4 or 5 games and now statistically 25th is way more impressive than the last pic in the draft making the playoffs and going to superbowl in their first 3 years while putting up top ten in the nfl stats

Did you just bring up the probowl as to why he is having a good season?

LMAO bruh I'm fuggin DEAD!

Good luck if they break the bank for him. These QB contracts are getting out of control. Hell Dak is the highest paid QB that should tell you the system is broken. Average QB's are becoming the highest paid players in football. This is why we have so many bad teams. They are building their teams with average QBs and they can't build a roster around them because all the money is being taking up by some average QB smh.

They won't learn that. Just like they never learned that paying highly drafted rookies like future HOFers was dumb.

    • I mean, in theory Bryce could get over the hump. That aside, you have to know that due to the situation we are going to give him another year. From some perspectives, it just makes sense. I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with it, but it's not like the draft is chock full of franchise QBs. I'm thinking that only one, the consensus top pick, is destined to be the only one in this draft (and some people don't believe in him). All we can do is sure up the room with an FA (Pickett) and take a swing or two and hope (maybe the dawg Pavia). 2027 should bring better options if it comes to that.
    • Let's be honest here. We have one WR on this team that would be in the top 3 of ANY other team. And he was a rookie last year. I love Coker but he is an often injured UDFA. He wouldn't have even gotten a chance on other teams. The rookie injury would have bounced him around the league for the next 5 years until he stopped trying to make a roster. It's a numbers game for most teams and he would have (at best) been on some team's practice squad. But Carolina has been so devoid of talent at the position, that we didn't have much of a choice. Bryce leaves a lot of questions but to say he hasn't elevated anyone isn't true. No WR has left Carolina since he's started and did better on another team. Not one. And there are several to choose from. Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not.
