Hot Take: This team will never get over the hump, until we move on from Bryce.

I mean, I conceded earlier this year he is the dude next year.  I'll root for him to keep improving.  But some of the hot takes on him just go too far not to come out against them.

I'm not lobbying for a new QB.  I want a new D.   Well, I might be open to replacing Dalton with a slightly younger version.

Those hot takes go both ways my friend. There are extreme exaggerations on both sides of the debate.

Folks essentially are forced into "knocking" Bryce Young because people just getting silly with it IMO.  Bryce has made improvement most of didn't see coming.  Bryce still isn't a very good QB.

tbh this is the duality that is keeping the board active

One side believes that Bryce is getting too much credit, another believes that Bryce is getting too much hate, and then there's a side that just wants to know beyond a shadow of a doubt whether or not he's the guy.

The back and forth between the first two provides reading material for the latter's bathroom trips.

The alternative is you understand Bryce isn't the future AND that this team isn't a QB away from contending anyways.

You trade Bryce for whatever the best offer is for him this offseason then go and sign someone like Jameis or Wentz this offseason to be the starter next year.  Both are going to end up costing your team wins, it's they're not starters anymore, but they both have big arms and aren't afraid to sling the rock.

It will help our young offensive weapons grow as they'll get tons of targets from all sorts of routes, but yes, they're likely to cause us to lose a lot of games, which is fine as it's a QB loaded draft next year, where we then draft a QB with our 1st rounder.

Fans won't like it next year while we're losing, but the reality of the situation is that it's the fastest way to get us back on the right track towards having a contending team again.  If we luck out and get the #1 pick and get Manning, then we could have a really bright future too.

What routes are they throwing Bryce isn’t rn? Develop leggette who’s already getting 8 targets a game he can’t do anything with? Or the UDFA possession receiver who runs a 4.6?

Bryce just threw a seam shot touchdown on the edge of the red zone then threw a 45 yard dime of a deep ball for a touchdown. And you’re still acting like he’s Teddy two gloves

Yeah, but see....those random throws don't make him not Teddy two gloves.  Because Teddy two gloves had those random throws too that went against his norm.

I think if Bryce turned into Teddy B the passer....we should be happy.  Not mad.  Because Bryce adds to that a better aspect with his slipperiness and legs.

We also threw Teddy in the trash after one season. Yet we are hoping this guy may one day reach his level.

Good comparison though. On a good day, Young looks like 2020 Teddy Bridgewater.

we threw Teddy in the trash ONLY because was the first to pry the door open to the dysfunctional world of Matt Rhule.    Teddy allowed the O to function.  And pretty well. Tons of guys had career years that season.  Pretty good ball between the 20s.  Team just wasn't doing so many of the basics in practice to finish the job on the field.  Like actually working on the redzone and stuff like that.

Matt Rhule didn't like the fact Teddy outed he was bad at his job.  Teddy got fired for that.  Not his play.

Okay so if Bryce=Teddy Bridgewater.

Do we pick up his 5th year option and extend that for QB1 money?

Or do we take a few day 2 and day 3 picks and cut our losses?

Or if you look beyond yard totals and completion % you’ll see Tedward could throw 41/49 passes under 8 yards downfield and get 300.

Those 3700 yards look a little different to you yet?

Depends.  I say you would have to start drafting a QB again.   Would the timeline say you need Bryce for another season to slow walk someone in? Maybe.

everyone ultimately wants a special QB.  That’s football at this level.

    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
    • Definitely epic tv..... A man who wont cheat for a poke dont want one bad enough.
