Early NFL offseason chatter

I'm just happy to not see a thread today asking us to trade for Deebo since the 49ers said they're looking to trade him after he asked to be.

He can be a useful player on the right team with the right coaching staff, but his contract is just too big for what he is as an actual WR, where he's average at best, in 6 years he's only had over 892 yards once

WOW, Rappaport just said the Cowboys have had internal discussions about trading Parsons.

Part of me says there is no way I'd ever consider trading for him as it would just cost us too much in draft capital and cap room, but man, him alone could change the prospects of this defense for the next 5+ years in an instant.

Parsons + Brown = good luck opposing OL's

Walker is a Parsons clone

Best I can do is Jadaveon Clowney and Ian Thomas.

If this were remotely true, he'd be widely viewed as the unanimous #1 pick in this draft.

The fact that that's just not the case, tells me this is an incorrect statement.

The fact that he falls into the 2nd round in some mocks, tells me this is a widely absurd statement.  I can't get on board with a player that polarizing at #8, just can't do it.

They would be out of their fuging minds to take a QB at 7 if Sanders and Ward are gone.

I hope it happens.

A lot of analysts said the same about the Broncos drafting Bo Nix at 12. Most considered him to be a reach. They got a lot of Cs and Ds on their draft grades. Yet, he had a productive rookie season and made the play offs.

Back in 2017, there were some analysts calling it a “weak” QB class lacking “elite” talent. Who came out that year? Patrick Mahomes. Most said he had a lot of potential, but only if he overcame bad habits and the shortcomings of playing in an air-raid offense in college. What’s his stat line before 30? About to makE his fifth Super Bowl appearance and goes into it with a 3-1 record.

So I’m always hesitant these days to write off QBs before they step onto an NFL field.

Sure, however this is also widely viewed as one of the worst QB classes in recent memory. The drop off in grades from Ward/Sanders to the field could genuinely and potentially be the 3rd round.

I think the veteran QBs will find a home.  I have no knowledge of who is projected to go where--just guesses.

here goes my prediction, so you will know who is NOT going where:

1. Raiders:  Darnold  (needs a good OL--Raiders have it)

2. Titans:  (Ward, draft)

3.  Jets:  Cousins

4.  Giants:  Wilson

5.  Browns:  Sanders (draft)

6.  Indianapolis:  Daniel Jones

7.  Steelers:  Rodgers

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
