If Graham is gone, fo you take Carter?

That said if he comes to the combine and goes for a 4.4 at 6'2ish 250+ then someone in the top 5 will draft on that alone.  Id rather have tmac or graham.   Those are plug and play guys from day 1.

Ask yourself if Carter is a better prospect coming out than Burns? IMO, he is not.

We are definitely watching different guys. As a sophomore he was the only P5 safety that graded as a top 5 pass defender and a top 5 run defender.

And he’s definitely physical. The tape doesn’t lie. Any scouting report that says otherwise isn’t accurate.

Also if we keep Evero which it looks like we are, the secondary needs to be elite. Evero’s defense is built on having an elite secondary.

In 2022 the Broncos had a top 10 mark in expected points allowed per play. EPA loves long passes and the Broncos secondary was elite and kept everything in front of them which allows credence to the belief that Evero’s defense is truly a bend but don’t break defense that relies on elite secondary play.

Additionally, in 2022 the Broncos had a 91.2 coverage grade which was the best in the NFL and they also were top 10 in completion percentage allowed and touchdowns allowed.

The secondary needs more than Jaycee Horn to be successful.

There’s all this talk of needing an elite front seven with Evero and that’s simply not true. Evero had Bradley Chubb and a bunch of average front seven players playing at a high level because the Broncos secondary was elite.

If the Panthers defense doesn’t have an elite secondary then they will struggle again.

This is the type of thinking that keeps teams in the basement. The Ravens were obliterated for taking Kyle Hamilton because who takes a safety in the top 15? Well the Ravens did and they got an elite playmaker and one of if not the best safety in the game.

Not to mention, safety is a relative safe position to draft high. All the top safeties are first or second round picks.

The Panthers can’t afford to keep striking out on first round picks and Starks would be an impact starter from day one, you can’t say that about any of the EDGE’s in this draft.

one is the top DT in the draft and the other is the top DE in the draft

interior dline might be the deepest position this year. I would love for someone to covet Milroe and allow us to trade back. Hell we could trade pretty far back.

Minkah and Derwin went 11th and 17th

Starks belong in with all these guys like Hamilton, Minkah and Derwin

They’re all very good athletes with high football IQ’s

Thats fine but I do think Hamilton was better than Starks and he didn’t go top 10.  I do see your point just don’t agree.  No worries

      Love the Freeling pick even more after watching his pressers. Dude is sharp and definitely seems to have the right mentality. I loved hearing how personal he took having a bad game with a torn labrum and instead of seeing that as the reason for his bad game and not changing anything, it motivated him to work even harder. Such a great pick, we finally got our all pro level LT for the next decade and now we can move Ickey to RT or guard with no hurt feelings due to his injury. Second favorite pick is probably Brazzell. He said he false started on his 40 and it cost him probably 0.04 seconds, so he’s more of a 4.33 guy rather than 4.37. Really Randy Moss lite. I didn’t know anything about him prior to drafting him and first highlight reel I saw of him I immediately thought he looked like Moss. Then I saw the measurables and was like yep. Then I see that he’s drawn that comparison by many scouts and analysts. If he can add consistency and play to the level of his highlights every play then we got an incredible value.

      During his three years at UGA he only allowed 5 sacks. He is only 21 and is on an upward trajectory. He's a great athlete that was good basketball player in high-school.  His height (76% how is this only 76%???? these guys are giants now), hands (81%), span (99%), speed (96%), quickness (10 yd. 86%), and explosiveness (vert. 96%, broad 97%) are all outstanding.  When we took Freeling, Fano, Mauioga, Proctor, and Miller were all off the board so we could have drafted Iheanachor or Lomu instead or waited to the second or third round to take Bell, Tiernan or Barber or wait even longer.  A lot of these tackles (including the first two taken) project to right tackle or guard in the NFL and that's not what we needed now.  Freeling has some sloppiness to clean up in his run blocking, but he's young and getting better.  We can let him get experience behind Walker and Moton knowing if he has to replace one of the two this year, his pass blocking won't get Bryce killed. Icky's not coming back from that injury as a nfl starting left tackle and Moton is in the twilight of his career.  If Walker has a great year, we will have to pay him a lot and if he is medicore we would want to let him walk.  Getting a LT on a rookie contract is going to help a lot with the cap.
