Part 2 of players I like in this draft for us

Part 2 is made after some further evaluations of players I really like for us (in no particular order):

 

1. Azareye'h Thomas (CB Florida St) - excellent size, length and tenacity. Excels in covering intermediate and crossing routes. He’d be excellent on the outside or at nickel. 
 

2. Shemar Stuart (Edge Tx A&M): Monster for an edge. Quick off the line, used in stunts to create mix matches, natural strength, has the bend to get underneath the outside shoulder of OTs, and if you block him with a TE the TE dies. If you block him with a RB, the RB is  launched into the QB standing 5 yards away. Did I mention he’s 6’6” 290 lbs? Monster, and who better to learn from than Clowney who had similar traits out of college? I would be fine with him at No. 8.

 

3. Marcus Mbow (RT):

Others here have mentioned him, and I agree with the praise. Recent rumors that Moton may not be extended (boooo). However this guys is a monster athletically and would be a perfect replacement.

4. Isaiah Bond (WR Texas): Our offense had one of the lowest YAC’s in the league last year, because Legette can’t stay running after the catch. This will be Theilan’s last year, and we need Bond’s speed and route running ability. He can be moved in the formation to create mismatches too. Perfect Z receiver whose speed can take it to the house. Also, makes tough catches. This is the type of receiver we need to add to our core. 
 

5. Tyler Shough (QB): Basically a tall Bryce Young in the pocket with stronger arm. Third string QB with two years to learn under Dalton and Young. Will be a luxury back-up. Amazing ball placement:

6. Shout out to the size of Jalen Walker’s hands. Look at his tape and focus on his paws. Once you notice them it’s all you will see again when watching his film.

This is a great list, Shemar Stewart has quickly become a draft crush of mine. When looking at his production it’s terrible, only 2 sacks in his best season. But, when I watched his tape you see a powerful monster of a man who is one of the few DE that can drive an OT straight back to create pressure. He gets consistent pressure, he just doesnt finish plays. 32 pressures and only 2 sacks is an anomaly, he has the ideal physical profile that is simply rare in today’s game. And his frame and size allows him to be a dominant run stuffer, I doubt he ever becomes an elite pass rusher while he’s a freak athlete he doesnt have elite bend which in todays game is shared trait among all elite pass rushers. But, he will be one of the best run defenders in the league, and an 8-12 sack guy in his prime. Considering our needs, if we traded back a bit to the 15-20 range and drafted Shemar there I would be a super happy camper.

Am I wrong, but is this just an incredibly deep and wide draft class this season?

it has been mentioned a lot, this draft isn't top heavy but day 2-day 3 has a lot of talent. Its a great draft depth wise (at certain positions). Plenty of late round RB, DL, TE talent.

I know we all love those big sack numbers, but I'm more interested in a guy that is constantly causing issues in the backfield. It doesn't really matter if he sacks the QB or drives him into someone else to do it. A busted play is a busted play and we need a hell of a lot more of those.

Good shout outs.  I'm definitely preferential to Shemar.  Don't know how high I'd be willing to take him, but I have a hard time not seeing him make an impact in the league.  As mentioned, he consistently is collapsing OLs.  6'6 280ish.  He's athletic to stand and set an edge, can get his hands in the dirt in sub packages.  Good prospect with huge upside.  He's built like a machine.

exactly.  I like Stewart--you can slide him inside to the 5 tech and bring in a smaller 9 tech on passing downs.
