predict our preseason record

I know that preseason means little to nothing in the scheme of things. Still what else is there to do this time of year.

I actually think we will do pretty well this preseason. Why? Because our second and third string quarterbacks will be better than our opposition. Plus we will have a bunch of guys very hungry to make the team who will be giving their all.

I think we will go 3-1.

What say you and why????

I expect quarterback play will be above the competition, which will make up for mediocre wide receiver play (and perhaps mask a legitimate problem.) On defense we will get no interior pressure but the defensive ends will surprise us a little. Good pass defense, shaky against the run.

possibly 2-2, probably 3-1.

It is probably going to be difficult to win just 1 game. The Ravens and Jets are both going to be top 3 AFC teams this year(along with the Colts). the Titans are just an average team other than the run game, which could be hard to stop, idk we'll see. And the Steelers won't have Big Ben and they dont have that much "decent" depth at WR, so they are probably going to run the ball alot, and their run defense is always good. I see us going 2-2, beating the Steelers and Titans.

I am hoping for 0-4 so the team comes out into the regular season knowing for sure how much work needs to be done.

The opposite could happen. They do well in the preseason because our backups are better than other teams backups, and we think we are further ahead than we are. Everyone gets excited and we find out the reality when everyone starts to gameplan and play their starters.

4-0. Yes, I'm serious.

We have some quality depth at quarterback (it would seem) and running back, as well as some emerging players on defense. I really think we're going to surprise some folks in the preseason.

I definitely acknowledge the potential of this happening:

2-2.

I don't think the pre-season matters.

2008 the lions went 4-0 in the pre-season and went 0-16 lol.

It matters very much in that you get to see your team's strengths and weaknesses, and also the positions which have the most and least depth. But you're right that the win-loss record doesn't matter a bit.

    • All good solids points. I think after the RB and LB, is kicker the next spot among "Legacy" panther spot?? Kasay, gano, butkler, Eddie(best all-time %), Slye, Lloyd the touch back god, Mare, lols.....  Fitz...*right now* feels a combo of all the best panther ones. With the new rules, Fitz is either first or second in starting field position form KOs. He's a weapon and ten yards do matter.
    • "Plays well" vs "near historic performance" are pretty different things. It's important to keep in mind the Cowboys passing defense is league worst and their run defense is nearly so, for sure. But one of those two players vastly outperformed what most other players have done versus the Cowboys and the other had fewer yards than typical (but still played very well imo, and did all we needed him to). Rico pretty much doubled up virtually every other single back that has played the Cowboys.  So yeah I get why people would be surprised that Rico is so far down the list of O players.
    • Trevin and Rozeboom remind me (obviously at a smaller scale) of when they had Beason as the mic and Luke beside him. Luke looked very average and was out of position a lot until he swapped to mic. REALLY hoping this is another case of that. Just on eye test alone that swap has been a night and day difference.
