The following list is culled from inspection reports for MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL venues in the United States and Canada operating in 2009. Results based on most recent routine inspections or equivalent of a full inspection. The score is based on the percentage of vendors in violation of health requirements.

Vendors with critical violations: 55%

Inspection report excerpt: Inspectors witnessed employees at several locations improperly keeping personal drink cups near food prep and saw one worker eating from a fryer basket.

I heard that the Panthers have already hired a new food management company that is supposed to "fix" all this.

Time Warner Arena was worse than BOA I think and they released a statement saying they would look into it.

The news interviewed a guy (a fan) at the Intimidators game in Kannapolis about this and he said "If I pay a premium price of $5 for Nachos I expect it to be good and at least not make me sick." Found that humorous for some reason. I didn't kow Nachos had a premium price.

The majority of these kinds of violations happen at almost all restaurants. The difference is that most restaurants have the luxury of noticing when some stranger is wandering around their kitchen, so certain infractions, such as eating on the line or having your drink without a lid on, can be hidden for the time. Vendors at major venues don't have such luxury, an inspector can stand anywhere near the counter amongst hundreds of patrons and see almost everything going on inside the booth.

I wish it was that way everywhere. Being in the restaurant business I know what kind of things can go on and it makes you really think before you eat at a place. I always go to the bathroom and check it first. If its not clean then its time to go...
