Quietly, today was a good day in Panther free agency.

• Roseboom could be a starting LB (over Wallace).  Supposedly, he has excellent range. Seems to be pretty smart.
• Rico is a nice RB compliment for Chuba.   So you may be asking, "Why did we not just draft a RB?"  People forget about pass pro--a QB's best friend.  "Rico Dowdle, the Dallas Cowboys running back, is considered a strong asset in pass protection, with some suggesting he is more versatile and effective in this area than other running backs..."  (source: the internet)

I'm hoping a 2 and a 4 is the offer. The Bengals can't pay both Higgins and Chase with Burrow's contract. Chase gets priority and Panthers are able to under bid what is expected to be the trade value for Higgins

Free agent quarterback Mac Jones, who wanted an opportunity to work with coach Kyle Shanahan, has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year deal worth $7 million with $5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

 

Jones, 26, appeared in 10 games last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, including seven starts in place of an injured Trevor Lawrence. He completed 65.3% of his passes for 1,672 yards and eight touchdowns, along with eight interceptions. The Jaguars went 2-5 in his starts, averaging just 15 points per game.

 

Jacksonville sent a 2024 sixth-round pick to the New England Patriots last March for Jones, who grew up in Jacksonville. He beat out C.J. Beathard in training camp to be Lawrence's backup.

Free agent wide receiver Mike Williams has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, the team announced Wednesday night.

 

The sides agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, a source told ESPN's Kris Rhim, confirming a Fox Sports report.

 

It marks a return to Los Angeles for the 30-year-old Williams, who spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Chargers. They selected him with the seventh pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Clemson.
