TBH, I am not sure "leaps and bounds better" is actually achievable in just one offseason. If we move towards the upper end of the bottom 10 defenses, I would consider that adequate progress overall.

Quite a bit more building in store for the next couple of offseasons.

Achievable or not, the defense must make major improvements or Evero must go.  At some point you have to put these players in positions to win.  Our defense looks lost out there on a weekly basis.

I mean that is a good haul for him but why on earth??? They have a young QB and they trade one of the best LT's around???? That's nuts.

I have on good Huddle authority that a QB selected #2 overall is supposed to also double as his own LT in order to maximize his rookie contract.

I think it all hinges on what we are able to cobble together in the offseason. That was the worst group of defensive players to ever suit up in Panthers uniforms. Even had Brown and Shaq been healthy, that would have been the case.

We have to see what the lineup looks like. I still suspect it will be a bottom 10 defense.

Here are the terms of the deal (via NFL Media😞

Texans get: 2025 third-rounder, 2026 2nd-rounder, 2026 fourth-rounder
Commanders get: Laremy Tunsil, 2025 fourth-rounder

Giving up Tunsil is an interesting decision for the Texans because CJ Stroud took 58 sacks last season, which was the second-most in the NFL.

Can confirm the Bengals are signing former Packers DT TJ Slaton to a 2-year deal worth $15.1 million. Cincinnati with its second interior defensive line addition today after re-signing BJ Hill to a 3-year deal. First reported by NFL Network.

How have we been unable to get in on ANY DL deals aside from Williams?

Seems like we are letting the upper tier and a chunk of the middle tier DL names get past us.

He did only have two more years left on his deal, maybe the extension talks really did not go well.

Agreed, I’ll wait to see what the roster looks like and will eventually con myself into thinking it’s enough to be excited.  Ive rode this ride before.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
