We will see a lot of Jets Second teamers on Saturday Night

The team’s number twos are getting punishment for not playing well in the Monday night game for the Jets: more playing time.

After playing his starters for the entire first half, Rex Ryan admitted that the first-teamers will play for only one quarter in the second preseason game in Carolina Saturday. The coach wasn’t thrilled with his second-team defense, which gave up 21 points, 256 yards and 10 first downs in the second half. The Giants’ yards per play jumped from 3.7 in the first half to 10.2 after intermission.

While I'm excited to see our team take the field Saturday night, I have to say I am pretty much sick of Jets this and Jets that. I've never been a fan of either NY/NJ team, but man, the Jets crap is a bit thick this year.

Favre, Jets, Haynesworth, edgy Jets, Favre, Jets, Jets, Rex Ryan, Jerry Jones, Jets, Favre. There, I've summed up ESPN and the NFL Networks programming this week. Blah, Blah, Blah.

How long are we going to play our starters this saturday? are we gonna do the whole one quarter thing again? while i love to see clausen and our other qbs i really wanna see more out of mattymo and i would like to see how hes connecting with our younger WRs outside of training camp and in real game action.

To help out the clueless, this is the general norm for all preseason games and starters playing time.

Game 1: 1 drive if it leads to a TD or one Full quarter.

Game 2: The entire first half

Game 3: Anywhere from halfway through the 3rd quarter to a full 3 quarters

Game 4: Will not play, unless something really needs fixing.

oh if only we had a coach like rex ryan who called his second teamers out in the media we'd have a lombardi by now

</PantherBob>

His dad was famous for that, but his ring came as an assistant. As a head coach, he was a flash in the pan early, generally a disaster later.

Coaches like Ryan have a tendency to go that route. When all you ever do is yell and grouch, it loses its effectiveness after a while.

    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
