So since were not drafting WR first next year... DT?

If our WR's continue to struggle this year, then I sure hope they would consider taking someone like AJ Green or Julio Jones if either are available. But with that said, it's way to early to predict what positions will be our biggest strengths and weaknesses heading in to NEXT season.

Unless we suck dick next year we won't get Jones or Green. Both are going to be fuging men in the league and i don't see us doing bad enough to get a pick that high.

Demaryius Thomas was the first WR drafted

remember, the first WR didn't come off the board this season until Dallas pulled the trigger on Dez Bryant. May we be so lucky to have first at bat on WR's will we do it even after spending poo tons of picks on it this year? I mean, most of us were crying for Golden Tate this year, look at his stats. http://www.nfl.com/players/goldentate/profile?id=TAT245022

IMO Julio Jones will be a bust, he's not quick by NFL standards, he's not an outstanding route runner and he drops far too many balls. Another thing I have noticed about Jones is he has a tendency to give up on plays he isn't a part of. He's an impressive specimen no doubt, with all the talent in the world. It will be interesting to see if he takes that next step......

I don't see why a WR is totally out of the picture, especially with contracts coming up. They may not need a DT. Hard to say what they will need next season without even beginning this season so I'd say right now don't worry about it.

I think the DLINE talent is decent in 2011. If some underclassman declare like Crick and Casey it goes to deep. I think Irvin and Tank are more rotational talent. You got mid 1st round DT talent like

Allen Bailey - The U - 6'4'' 288lbs athlete. Custom made for Ron Meeks scheme.

Marvin Austin - UNC - 6'3'' 305lbs. Big and fast.

Jerrell Powe - Ol' Miss - 6'2'' 328lbs. Nose Tackle missing since Jenkins left.

These guys could help us. I don't think Marshall is gonna leave. I think him, Kalil and D-Will are big time priorities. Check out what the Buccaneers are doing. They got two top DT's and are in position to get a top DE if they decide to go that route. We have CJ, E.Brown and our unknown DT's. Just saying.

DT is definitely a position that will be loaded with talent in the draft next year. I could certainly see us going CB with a guy like Prince Amukamara from Nebraska or Shareece Wright who is going to explode up draft boards this year. Then we could come back in the third or trade back into the second and get someone like Jurrell Casey (if he comes out) who will undoubtedly fall due to the number of talented DT's in the draft....

But as others have already said it's much too early to start predicting these things....

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
