Panthers | Matt Moore not being ruled out for Week 2

Mon, 13 Sep 2010 10:04:50 -0700

Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said QB Matt Moore (concussion) was feeling a lot better after suffering a concussion in Week 1 and has not been ruled out for Week 2, reports Darin Gantt, of the Charlotte Observer. Fox said Moore will start if he is fully healthy.

Again, per the NFL policy on concussions, Moore needs to evaluated and cleared by team doctors as well as independent docs before he can practice, let alone play next week.

It's not "time" for anything after one game. Much less starting a rookie at QB.

if you had to guess..place a percentage of our chances of a W with clausen or moore starting if both are healthy.

I personally think Clausen gives us a better chance to win, even without him taking a meaningful snap in regular season. He already seems more polished and more comfortable in the pocket. Jimmy is not your average rookie, he understands the playbook, been slightly exposed to the new speed and has good game footage to study.

Of all games to give him a chance this would be the one, its still early and Moore could use the rest this week.

I still believe Matt Moore can fix his mistakes and play well for us but I hope Fox doesn't rush him through this concussion. If he does play than Davidson needs to limit him next week against Tampa bay. We don't have 2 elite backs on our team so that our new starting Qb can get knocked around early. Part of me even thinks if Jimmy did get the nod to start, Davidson might have him throw alot as well.

^^^ i think im just tired of 3+ years of crappy QB play. Never fails how our Qb's (jake in his last days here) are so bad in protecting the ball and getting points on the board. Moore had 1 good TD throw....but good lord there were times when he had time to throw and still couldnt hit the open WR. And im still wondering WTF was he thinking when he floated that ball to the WR in the endzone.......

    • Well, the whole rationale used  for the high IQ point guard is it would allow us to spend our resources elsewhere….instead it’s all our first rounders ever since to support the bad pick.  Reality is our front office is just bad.  If you wanted Bryce Young you were going to need to do something unique and special for him.  Instead we just insert a QB with traditional tools into old NFL concepts that pair with traditional talent and our pass game is whack
    • Good to see some other folks are speaking the same language on this. It's simple common sense. But it seems like there's a disconnect due to the misplaced value the team has put on Thielen because he was the only vaguely good veteran WR willing to sign with the Panthers after we traded away DJ Moore. That time has come and gone. We have two first round WR's on the roster now.
    • Yeah I’m turning this into a Bryce can’t play QB thread. Just stating that offense was a poo show two years ago. No QB is succeeding in that, much less a rookie. I feel like it’s become a common debate strategy on here to just jump down the rabbit hole of saying he is just bad in so many ways when any certain point gets countered. If that doesn’t work we can deflect to how poorly this team has been ran. In regards to the actual point we are debating, the OL was struggling, half of the skill players aren’t on a roster, Mingo has done nothing with his new team and the staff are either not coaching or on their 3rd team in 3 years, aside from McCown (I liked McCown too). Honestly about as bad as it gets. No need to try to state how good of an offense it was billed it because that has been proven false at this point.
