There is no statistical proof that backs up sitting a QB his first year amounts to a more successful career. I will see if I can dig up the report I read, was interesting reading.

Basically though, no matter what you do, it's all the same probability with an early round QB, sit or start.

But couldn't you just say; HAILO Peyton Manning!!!!

I mean really, one of the best if not THE best QB to every play the game started from day one and I believe he went 1-15 or sumfin like that?!

Jimmy will be fine, will he look like a rookie? Yep!

Ill take 0 wins this year if we end up with a Peyton Manning on our hands in 2 more years! I say yes please!

Of course. You can also say hello to Smith, Russel, Leinart etc etc etc

The point is that there is no statistical evidence to prove either theory right or wrong and in fact both methods have produced just as many busts/booms. It really is just down to luck.

Proof that sitting a QB for at least one year doesn't make them a better QB in the long run is going to make a lot of people on here very uncomfortable!!!

P.S. I like it!

Lefty only played because Brunell slid out of bounds and into an aluminum bench which gashed open his throwing arm. Big Ben only started because of injury to Tommy Maddox. Brady might have never played had Bledsoe not gotten hurt.

Garrard also only got to play because of Lefty getting hurt repeatedly and the Jaguars wanted a guy they could rely on to be there rather than have to keep a great backup because your starter can only play 11 games a year.

Here is what you need to know:

Freeman looks good and got to start his first year.

Sanchize is showing flashes and started his first year. They are going to be better off this season for getting him playing time last year.

Ryan looks like a franchise QB and got to start right away.

Flacco is a franchise QB and got to play right away.

Big Ben got to start his rookie year and now has 2 SB rings for it.

Stafford ( who I am not sold on ) has given the Lions fans hope with the way he has played.

Sam Bradford looks like he is going to be a stud and he is getting to play right away.

Recently, QBs who are thrown into the fire have turned out quite fine.

Jamarcus Russel is the only bust and he went to Oakland so there is his excuse. He did suck, but Oakland lately kills all good players. Sapp, Moss, among others.

First of all If Clausen doesn't play well and win some games, he won't be the starter this year let alone turn into Peyton Manning. And no one knows who the coach will be next year let alone the quarterback. All of you thinking Clausen is the future will be howling if the new guy brings in a few veterans to start. With as cheap as he is, there will no compelling reason to start him.

You don't know that, you're just spewing more of your Clausen hate! Fact is, none of us know anything really except that Moore didn't get it done and now someone else gets a turn! Be happy for the kid, I'm sure when he is leading us to the superbowl we will all have to hear how you pleaded with the front office to start Clausen the day he was drafted :chillpill:
