The pass in the dirt

Mr. Scot

jeez Mr. Scot makes a humble suggestion and now it's truth?

It's hardly a shot at him. This attitude is everywhere on this board about how Smith is a bad teammate and how Clausen is so wonderful and doing his best.

Smith is just like Muhammad was in 2000. He's a good WR with a coward at QB who wants to play it safe all game with drop offs (minus a broken defensive play that left stewart wide open) so he can lose and get his 90.6 qb rating.

Seriously how you guys can continue to worship Clausen for the dumbest reasons is beyond me. I'll join the bandwagon when he does more than complete 50% of passes and stops being an asshat of a teammate to a veteran.

First off, you, panthers55, and CRA need to get your heads out of your asses. NO ONE on this board worships Clausen, NO ONE on this board thinks he's been playing lights out, and NO ONE on this board thinks he is for sure the future. What we all, minus you lunkheads, think is that he is "supposed" to be the future of this team. And if that's the case, he needs to be out there taking his lumps...which he is. Why you three can't get that is beyond me. And why you three read way too much into how we treat Jimmy is beyond me.

And sorry, if Clausen gets it going at any point in this season, you three can't hop on board. You've been banned from rooting for him as part of this team. Now, take your Matt Moore posters and wait by the curb at his driveway. Remember to bring your Sharpie.

not to derail such an entertaining smitty vs jimmy clash (though i agreed with the poster that started off questioning why we have to take sides)

my thoughts at the time when Smitty called a TO was:

1) i can't remember the set of downs and all but at the time i wondered if a TO wasn't more important than 5 yards in that situation

2) the coaches called the TO the first time, i didn't think it was smitty's call to make. either let jimmy call it or let the coaches call it. smitty's responsibility is playing football not making field decisions

3) i thought smitty was pretty outa line being demonstrative about it. nobody likes being embarrassed like that and this org goes out of it's way to not single out and embarrass the players. but apparently smitty is above that. i thought it was classless on his part even if he is frustrated or doesn't like jimmy.

4) i thought jimmy handled in will in not reacting to smitty on the field.

if jimmy was pissed at smitty i think he had a reason to be. plus i don't think smitty or anybody else on the team would respect him if he just let smitty roll all over him. i agree that the qb needs to be your leader on the field. smitty can be the leader in the locker room though i wouldn't be following him much when he continues to make an ass outa himself. (not to take sides an all)

Jimmy calls the plays?

Whew. It's okay, everyone, Jeff Davidson isn't so bad after all, Jimmy has been calling the plays all along... If only we would have known that sooner!

HPPantherzfan and Clawsome2 do. You should go back and read some of the stuff they say. It's classic.

And what you don't know is that I am at every home game or watching on TV and supporting the Panthers including Clausen. In fact my son and I are contemplating getting one of his jerseys. (It is a wholesale site where you have to buy a lot of 3 or more to get a great price.)

I told you before but you were too incoherent to obvious read it that I support whoever is playing on the team whether they are my favorite or not. I am going to miss the Chicago game only because my son is getting married in Gastonia at 6:30, and I am assured by everyone that I can't do both.

What you miss is that I really enjoy coming on here after a loss and trolling about Clausen. You among a few others are really easy to get going and very amusing in how butt hurt you get any time anyone says anything negative about Clausen. All I have to do is point out a few things and you go off like a rocket.

As long as Clausen is the starter I will support him because he is a Carolina Panther. I have been through other rookies and other terrible quarterbacks like Jeff Lewis, so Clausen is just one more.

But you can count on me coming here and bitching about Clausen as long as guys like you are so easy to get riled up.

Yeah I know it is trolling but seriously it is like shooting fish in a barrel. You are so funny. I can just imagine you getting so steamed up as you furiously type away going to show me whats up. LOL

WOW! Do you even think before you post???

So you dont like the short passing game, which all elite qb's utililize and I can only assume you wish he would force balls downfield into triple coverage ala Moore??

our o-line is getting beat bad,for a number of reasons right now. For us to throw deep we'd have to be able to ultilize playaction..we can't cuz our run game isn't scaring anybody behind what our o-line is doing.

If you want to air the ball deep downfield

1.you have to have a deep threat

2.your line has to provide you time to let the reciever get deep before you throw it

3.i'm stopping here cuz a wise man wont argue with a fool

I hate threads like this. It puts baseless ideas in people’s heads, and then they start talking about it as if it is a fact. No matter how many times you say it is only conjecture or that you are simply wondering, too many people will take this and run with it. IMO, this creates a divide among fans and a problem where none existed, and it is how unfair and unjust reputations begin.

Honestly, so do I.

Thought long and hard about not posting it. Eventually decided to go with it but also insert as much "disclaimer" as possible.

Heck, even I have my doubts (expressed plenty in the OP).

So why did he put it in the dirt for Gettis?

That looked like a normal bad pass, as I recall (I'd have to look back).

The one to Smith may have just been that too, but the surrounding situation and the body language of the two men involved makes me wonder.
