Quarterback inconsistency has been the problem

Reich's problem was that he brought in a bunch of highly regarded coaches who had different experiences and personalities who all thought they knew how to fix things. But they weren't on the same page. They weren't cohesive and supportive of one another. There were lots of stories about coaches going over Reich's head to Tepper, fighting openly, and more. It is like having a bunch of superstar players who all play for themselves and not each other. It fails most times. Reich wasn't able to manage the coaches let alone the players. And I think he didn't want Brice and had his success with established guys not like Canales who may well be a quarterback whisperer. Reich was a good coach for Indy and I was supportive when we got him. I never thought he would only last 11 games.still between his guaranteed 4 year salary here and what Indy still owed him through 2026, he made 10s of millions while becoming the only coach to get fired during the season In back to back years.

I agree changing QB's and coaches every year will never result in success.

That said.. Teddy was named "Teddy check down" for a reason.. Could we given him a better chance? Yes, but I dont think it was a bad decision to move on.

Darnold: I supported trading what we did for a potential Franchise QB. The team failed him. The right coach in place and we would be miles a head of where we are today.

Baker: I supported (and always will) taking a shot at a QB. The team failed him.

We had 2 maybe 3 potential Franchise QB's on the roster but we didnt have a good team around them or a plan. Both have gone on to become a Franchise QB for other teams while we continued to rebuild.

That said Young came into his own this last year. I anticipate a big step this year.

You're right, it wasn't a bad decision to move on from TB5, it was a DISASTROUS decision to move on.  How many draft picks, how much dead cap, how many players did it cost us when we decided to move on?  The number of dominos that move set in motion is just now beginning to stop.

I still support the discussion to move on from TB5.

Teddy was always planned to be the bridge QB. I dont think he ever could have amounted to much, and I think that is backed up by the fact that he went on to do nothing after we moved on from him.

You can make a better argument that we made the right decision trade for Darnold OR Baker and the bad decision was to move on from either one of them.

It's been a mix of things, Rhule was a huge mistake and that affected everything else.  Tepper went with potential in Rhule, then wanted to go with reliability in Reich and got neither from either.  Canales was the right guy and I think we have seen that last season.  He might not be perfect, but he made things work.  Bridgewater, Darnold and Baker would have looked better with competent coaches and play calling.

It is all water over the dam now

there is no going back

we either win with Bryce this year or a new qb in 2026

i am hoping for the fans and the franchise that he is at least a serviceable qb in 2025

i loved cam but it is over

we all know in the current nfl, if you ain't got a qb, you ain't got nothing   Simple and plain

let us  hope we have something vs this continued dissection of the past

good luck bryce

    • Give me Anthony Hill Jr or give me death
    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
