Official Peppers bitch/whine thread. And TRADE IDEAS HERE!!!!

RB, I can't speak for X-Clown but the fact that they would likely want a pretty high pick or picks for him in a trade if he is franchised (as I think he will be) and he likely would command a pretty good amount of money in a contract isn't really a risk that a lot of teams are in a position to take. Were he simply to become a FA, that might be a different story because then a team would be dealing simply with the dollars.

Bingo. It's not as if we are the Lions and need to start all over.

RB, to respond to your post...just because I'm against the Panthers going after the biggest "name" out there doesn't mean I'm saying there's no need to improve the quarterback position. The two ideas are not mutually exclusive. I'll say it again...the biggest "name" from last year was Derek Anderson. Would it have been a good move for the Panthers or any other team to throw a high pick or picks and a ton of money at him last year for his one good season? I'm pretty sure the Browns would like the option to travel back in time and have dealt him to the highest bidder.

I hope that we sign Gross to a long term contract and franchise Peppers. Peppers has more value on the Free agent market and will get us more draft picks. If we don't sign Gross long term I doubt we franchise him again. He had a good year but honestly I think we can replace him easier and actualy have 1 or 2 guys who could fill in for him. I can't figure out what more he wants. We have an offense which he flourishes in and he is already one of the top 5 compensated players at his position. I understand it is structure of the contract and language. Hopefully we can work it out which then leaves us with Peppers.

As for Philly, if Peppers really wants to go to a 3-4 that rules out Philly. Plus if Johnson doesn't recover it is hard to say what their defense will look like.

Housh is interested in Philly next year and they have TONS of cap space. they are going to be a beast next year anyway.

you put either pep or gross there and you have a return trip to the NFCCG.

not to mention that we play them next year.

i'm not crazy about their potential.

If your a team like the Eagles who have been dying to get a "freak" D-End for years, and havent been able too, also they have plenty of cap room, and a great pass rusher would make their defense top 5 easy, especially with that secondary and their blitz happy scheme...You wouldnt know who to stop..

Its like my Dad always says "How much something (or in this case someone) is worth is how much someone is willing to give for it." Or what I like to say "There's an A** for every seat"

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
