Peppers on returning to play the Panthers

Guess the FO just returned the favor by ignoring him like he ignored them when they offered to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league coming off the worst season of his career...

I'm a UNC alum and despite all his faults Peppers was my favorite Panther by a longshot, but he's the enemy now and none of this matters anymore... GO PANTHERS.

Peppers rips Panthers

“I don’t have a problem with them saying, ‘OK, the lockup is coming up. The future of the league is uncertain, and we’re going to go in a different direction. We’re going to do away with anybody who was making any significant amount of money, and we’re going to keep young guys.’ That’s a business decision. I can understand that and respect that,” Peppers said.

“The problem that I had was that they tried to turn the tables to make it look like I wanted out, no matter what. And really, I didn’t have the option to stay because it was never offered to stay. So that’s the thing when I say it ended a little sour, I felt like it could have been a little more respectful.

“At least a phone call to say, ‘Hey, it’s been good. We’re going a different direction. We’re going to let you go.’ They couldn’t even give me that. So that’s why I say it was a little sour.”

I would pay money to actually hear some of those quotes come from Peppers mouth. Awful lot of syllables in the word significant. Dude would struggle with a word like that.

And the way he says things went down is almost a childish mentality. Reminds me of my wife sometimes. Rather than telling me she wants to go on a date night she'll get mad at me for not thinking of it and asking her first. Jesus Christ, just tell me WTF is is that you want and let's work from there!

panthers say they offered him a deal. peppers said they made no effort. one would think someone is lying. i tend to believe that both are probably right.

how? carl carey...that miserable excuse for an agent. if the panthers did make an offer and carey wanted peppers out of carolina (which he had plenty of incentive to make happen) then he very well could have just not told peppers about the offer.

either that or peppers is just a dumb mental midget who forgot.

either works for me.

From the Observer article...

“I don’t have a problem with them saying, ‘OK, the lockout is coming up. The future of the league is uncertain, and we’re going to go in a different direction. We’re going to do away with anybody who was making any significant amount of money, and we’re going to keep young guys.’ That’s a business decision. In an interview last week, Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said the Panthers twice made Peppers offers to make him the NFL’s highest-paid defensive player.

Peppers said those offers came a couple of years ago. He said the Panthers did not negotiate with him this past offseason before he signed a six-year, $91.5 million contract with the Bears.

Yes you can take sides, but from this side, they did make offers. Just not this season.

I think he made it very clear he wanted out. I didnt get that from reading articles or his interviews, I got it from watching him on the field.

I got it from the fact that he NEVER did post game interviews, yet gave a post game interview to the ESPN lady after the Vikes game last year and then immediately following that, he refused to give interviews to local media.

That's just dumb and immature.

He's a big dumb animal folks.

I like how when Smith underperforms, it's because he's got a bad surrounding cast.

When Peppers underperforms, it's because he's taking plays off.

It's no surprise so many on this board actually want us to trade Smith because "he deserves better," but they crucified Peppers for it.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'. The man's a hell of an athlete who now plays for another team. No need to be all butthurt about it.

Pepper's play really depends on how he manhandles the guy in front of him to get to the QB. Smith's play depends on how the entire OL performs and if his QB is even capable of delivering a catchable ball in his direction.

I won't say anything about Peppers' performance, bc frankly, I don't know. I didn't focus on him. hes a tremendous player and makes a difference. But I'm calling BS on the Panthers not wanting to keep him. He's not a victim. If he wanted to stay he would have taken the money, idk why he wants to play the blame game.
