Why is DeAngelo being limited?

You guys are crazy. Clausen passed 22 times and many of those were throw aways on broken plays. The running game isn't working because it's way too predictable, but not because they aren't running the ball.

As someone said the passing game needs to open up the running game at this point in the season. The first step in that is fixing the 0.5 average yards on first down.

Let's not forget Moore also threw 10 passes (which resulted in two interceptions).

DWill had just 12 carries.

It's all a scheme to try to prevent Jason Baker's leg from falling off. If we run more against defenses geared up to stop the run cause they ain't skeered of our passing game, then it's three and out all day long, which goes back to Baker's leg. At least with mixing in pass plays, there is the "illusion" of extending a drive.

Plus, that guy Stewart has to get some carries too.

As has been pointed out we are NOT limiting DeAngelo's carries. He is getting more per game than the success of our running game would warrant at this point. He is a dynamic playmaker, but we cannot get anything going on the ground this year because we have absolutely no passing game, no blocking, and until last week mostly horrible play calls.

Horse poo. DWill is averaging 4.7 yards per carry this year.

Weigh that versus last Sunday Matt Moore throwing 2 picks in 10 attempts.

Fox and Davidson are fuging idiots.

DWill touches should not be limited to runs.

It's obvious we can't run a screen pass worth a damn without getting a penalty, but there's always the checkdown. Swing pass. And try a screen from time to time.

Last night for instance...stupid Vikings put Gerhart out there for a couple of plays that looked specifically designed for him. A checkdown. Not ADP...Gerhart. I believe my 94yo grandmother can run a quicker 10 yards than he.

Bringing up Moore's picks in garbage time is pointless.

It invalidates your argument because it shows a lack of understanding.

DWill is averaging that much only because he doesn't have 20+ carries a game. He rips a couple of big ones and for the rest of the game he runs into a wall because they cover the cutback and there is no passing game that is going to force them to sit back and not play the run.

Bad penalties, bad field position, we try early and its stuffed, no respect for the pass game by the defenses, behind in the game. I dont know why people on here act like they think Fox doesnt want to run the ball. Everyone knows they would rather do that, but you have to try to take advantage of the defense, we just suck at passing. I have no idea why threads like this are being created.

Because it is like the Emperor with no clothes. No one wants to admit the obvious which is the run game, the O line and everything else suddenly looked bad when we had no passing game and people are loading the box with 8 and 9 guys and run blitzing. Couple that with a bunch of 3 and outs and what chance does the running game actually have.

The reality is that the O-line doesn't have to make the passing work but rather we need to actually have a passing game which will open up everything else.

It just allows posters to blame everyone else for what clearly is poor quarterback play. If Brees came tomorrow miraculously the offense would suddenly get better instantly.

lol.

Our offensive line would just collapse around his 6' frame. He'd get killed.

HIs offensive line is credited with being so good when for my money he gets the ball out so fast that even uncovered defensive guys can't sack him before the ball is gone. The same with Peyton and Warner. Guys like that make the line look much better while guys like Roethlisburger and Cutler make their lines look much worse by holding the ball.

The quarterback on our team who can actually have a good game and throw downfield will suddenly find that the o-line has miraculously improved overnight.

He'd have to get rid of the ball almost immediately, because the right side would just let people walk through like they've been doing all year. Doesn't matter how good you are at QB, your line has to protect him.

Also, Drew Brees is only 6'0. His offensive line is specially designed to open up "passing lanes" for him to see through, and throw through. Once again, he'd get killed.

lol.
