Hopefully Dan Patrick kind of helped Andrew Luck make his decision easier.

All right, well, we'll just pile on you until you have one. I think you're both gone. Judging what you did this year, you seem like you need that next challenge.

"Yeah, I'm sure it'll be a challenge in the NFL and I'll figure out when that challenge begins, I guess."

Well, you know what, you don't want to have a situation like Jake Locker where you're ready to come out and then all of a sudden he had a down year. So, that has to factor in as well of jumping in when the time is right.

"Well, that's a very good point."

if Luck doesn't declare....it will be b/c he doesn't want to come to Carolina. Then Jerry will really need to do some apologizing

that's not really true. of course none of us will ever know the real reason if he doesn't enter the draft, but a lot of people seem to be under the impression that guys that are going to go first overall are upset about going to bad teams.

let's take a look at just the past two years. Sam Bradford and Matt Stafford both knew they were either going to the Rams or Lions, yet both of them entered the draft. Call me crazy but I think Charlotte is a more appealing city than Detroit and St. Louis.

I think if he doesn't enter, then he really wants to finish his degree or make a run for a championship.

We're not the Bengals, or the Raiders. We're not even the Lions, for that matter.

It's not like this team has a history of being a bottom feeder. We're only two years removed from being in the playoffs. Add in that we've got two top-flight runningbacks (arguably three) some intriguing young receivers and a decent defense. And say what you will about The John Fox era Panthers. Up to this year, always being close to .500 was a good accomplishment.

With a high draft pick and lots of cap room, this is a franchise that's primed to have a new coach come in and take it to the next level.

I agree. But still, if Luck stays in school.....it will have a lot to do w/ him (and others) not viewing Carolina in the same manner we do.

It could equally have to do with Luck having some weird obsession with getting his degree, believing that Stanford has a chance at a title or bigger Bowl next year, or simply thinking he's not ready yet.

I'm obviously biased but it's not like we've had a flood of players wanting out of Carolina and despite this year's transgression our ownership / front office have, for the most part, had solid relationships with the players.

You guys all need to look at this with a less specific lens - teams in worse shape than Carolina have picked first and not had their picks run screaming for the hills.
