How disgusted are you that we basically gave away a low first rounder for Edwards?

I am not disgusted at all. You win some, you lose some. Truth is, the jury is still out on Edwards.

In case you missed it:

Basically, I am tired of the bashing of Edwards. It takes time to convert to any position in the NFL, and to become efficient at it. Edwards' role coming into the season was loosely defined. The Panthers were trying to fit Edwards into a very specialized role that doesn't come naturally to most people. Returning kicks/punts is not the easiest thing to learn. Basically you have it or you don't. I believe that trying to fit a square peg into a round hole messed with Edwards mentally, and he lost a little confidence. This along with learning how to be a receiver was just too much for the dude. That being said, I believe that 2011 may be a lot kinder to Edwards than many think. I am assuming that Edwards now knows the generalities of being a WR, and once he learns the intricacies of the position, he will become a productive Panther. Edwards was a QB after all, so this will hopefully help him to get in sync with our QB a little quicker than normal (once he and the QB begin to have steady and consistent reps, and become comfortable in their new roles). If you understand what I am saying, he may not think exactly like whoever the QB is, but he can use his experience as a QB to get into the head of the QB, and that will enable the two to have a great connection. In short, he has the possibility to become a beast (probably in the slot position, at least initially), or---at the very least---a guy who can make some key plays, who you definitely want on your side.

This is my take, and I am sticking to it.

Time to look to the future. The season is done and at least the franchise is doing something different and trying to improve things. That is a big change from the last couple of years.

good points..........one thing you will find the longer you are on this site......a

lot of panther fans ALWAYS have one eye in the rearview mirror, sad to say.

Um we gave up the first pick in the second round and a third rounder for him (that was spent).

and yes it hurts.

False. We didn't have that third pick, we traded for it. We only gave up one pick, this years second rounder in a trade for last years third from the pats.

For all intents and purposes AE is this years first second round pick so for this upcoming year I expect him to be able to come in a play as a second rounder should, anything he did this past year was a bonus as he was a mortgaged pick.

i wouldn't say I was disquested but the FO could have waited and draft him when they had there pick so now we could have had two draft picks in the irst now sonow we don't have but one so thanks marty and fox edwards will be good one day with the right coach and him working really hard during the offseason on his route running and catch ablity he could be our 2 or 3 reciever that as far as I having been but until then I was disapointed about the trade during the draft
