lost the original....very interesting news out of New Orleans....not sure if he's really hurt or just doesn't want to play there.

But check out the cap hit if they make him a post June 1st cut

sorry Captain--did not see the links--just the thread title.  Wonder how this impacts the Panthers at #8?  I am guessing the Saints move up---Jags maybe?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they run it with Rattler. They committed to Carr, so we know they were already willing to tank for Manning. Could they go up for Sanders, of course. I still think they ride it out this year bc they are trying to get out if contracts and dead cap.

Best thing we can hope for is the Saints move up and pick Sanders

Saw a crazy stat the other day, this is the longest in the offseason that every team has their original first round pick since the mid 90s.  Maybe the Saints will be the first to break it

here's an interesting scenario....Sanders falls to us and no one wants to trade with us except the Saints (they don't know no one else wants to move up).  Do we trade with a division rival?  The trade chart value is a late 4th to move up one with us....if they are desperate, they might offer a third, possibly a 2nd this year or next....do we do it?  Or do we decline and let them get him anyway with the next pick?

QB is a crap shoot....he's fallen some on a lot of boards, but he could be their long term starter

Right? From every angle it's a win.

Not sure if getting more and sending it elsewhere or watching the Saints take Sanders while having to eat Carr's dead money appeals to me more still. Either way win-win for the Panthers

Only thing I'd be worried about is if Walker is sitting there and we trade then they take Walker.  Losing Walker for a third would be hard to swallow, a 2nd i could maybe live with

Could be---I am going to say they trade with Cleveland and take Sanders.   This draft is shaping up to be a fun one.

    • Strongly disagree with this. Not saying Kucci will be a playoff caliber starter. But, if you look at the guys who are playoff starters and those with recent playoff success, he is matching their trajectories to a tee. Once other teams get enough tape/experience and start to gameplan against, there is an adjustment period. Pyotr has all of the skills to be a Vezina level tendy. What matters is how he evolves from here. The league knows his tendencies and have learned how to exploit him. Can he continue to mature and improve, or will he settle in for a long lucrative career on the bench? Next season will be a turning point for Kucci, one way or another. Hopefully, he proves me right and we have our goalie for the next decade. Lord knows the rest of our goalie pipeline looked like garbage when they got thrown in the fire this season.
    • I can only assume you never played sports at any high level or you would know the tiny bump you get moving up the draft is far outweighed by the damage you do to coaches and players whose future relies on sticking in the league and performing. Players see you don't care about them or the team success and will help you tank by giving up. Once that happens your franchise will suffer for years and develop a loser mentality like we have.  No that would be crappy advice and saying it repeatedly doesn't make it better.
