Phil Simms thinks Luck is way over hyped because his son has no spleen.

Who cares if Mallett is the best "pure passer" right now?? Luck is the full package. He is smart, accurate, quick on his feet, strong arm. I mean...what else could you ask for?? All Mallett has is arm strength. Simms, like a lot of other retired QBs, is pissed that his day in the sun is gone.

I'll take a smart QB that isn't a "pure passer" over a dumbass with an arm any day of the week.

Before the Phil Simms interview on 610am they had a caller from Charlotte who claimed that he was friends with someone on the team who told him that Andrew Luck was declaring he was going to stay in school today. The guy could have been full of B.S. and hopefully so, but there is a kicker on Stanford that went to Charlotte Country Day.

I would be shocked and amazed if Luck said he was going one way or another before Jan 15th. I'd be floored if he did anything before the Harbaugh situation was settled.

That sounds like pure B.S.

My faith in his opinion on current QBs is not very strong. It is commonly known around here that he "called and blessed Derek Dooley out" when he benched Matt Simms for true freshman Tyler Bray. Apparently this call happened after Bray had already started a few games, and Phil still tought Matt was better.

If any of you have seen true freshman Tyler Bray play, you'd realize how idiotic this claim is by Phil. Bray is good. Matt Simms is NOT.

I'm prepared for the let down, but I'm praying there's not one and that he does come out... But, in all honesty, wouldn't it make even less sense for him to say he's staying in school when it's all but signed on paper that Harbaugh is leaving for the pros? And he still hasn't resolved that situation, only declaration I could see him making at this point would be to go pro b/c of the uncertainty/unlikelihood that his coach will be back.

The only reason he would have for announcing early is if his decision is not based on Harbaugh, and that is the only insight he gave reporters. The CBA is a factor, and the owner of the team that is positioned to draft him goes public during the 10-day window Luck has to decide and tells the world he sees a lockout coming and draws a pie chart that showed his primary interest is money. He also had to address Scrooge questions. That Presser could have waited 2 weeks or until after they hired a coach.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
