Kolb Wants Out Of Philly?

But hows do we lose out and takes teh Luckz ifn we haves the quarterback this year?!

The idea of "just letting Clausen" start makes me ill. If he wins the job against some competition, good, but were those of you who just want us go into the season with him as our designated starter with no real competition even watching last year??

Also, the idea of letting Clausen another year or half a year risk literally throwing two straight seasons in the can. This fan base should be going berserk at that idea. Everyone assumes that you have to either be terrible or great. Sometimes progress takes a middle ground.

If Kolb ends up being the best acquisition for what we have to offer, be it money or what is on the draft board, he makes sense to take. Personally I would rather find someone else, because I'm not convinced Kolb is a long-term answer... but that may be due to my skepticism of Andy Reid's offense.

Philly will never get what they really want for Kolb.

1. No players can be traded without a new CBA, so the draft for this yr will be probably be finished before a new CBA is complete.

2. Any draft picks given away for a player will be next yrs draft after the CBA gets done. I dont see any team give up next yrs Number 1 for any player.

3. Makes me think without a CBA this yrs draft will be boring because team may not be able to trade future drafts.

the only team that has enough picks for trading power would be New England, 2 picks in each of the first 3 rounds.

I wonder if we get any compensation picks without a CBA?

How many of you guys remember how A J Feeley looked before he was traded away from Philly as opposed to after?

If we get Childress as OC or QB coach, I could see us being interested due to system familiarity (they did not work together) but there's no way I'd give up anything significant.

I wouldn't go higher than a fourth rounder, and I'd be willing to bet some other team will offer more than that.

If fans want Clausen out as much as they do. Why not offer them Clausen & a 5th or something? Not very likely since Clausen is young, cheap and can still develop into a good QB in the future. But with all the skeptism that he is garbage and done in Carolina it might be worth entertaining. Not a fan of Kolb btw.

nah, I'm good. Andy Reid's system allows all QBs to do well

Bingo. And in it, he's been serviceable and that's about it.

For the people interested in acquiring him: Philly is in need of linebackers, so I would see if they'd want Connor for him, but that's about it. No more major draft pick trades

Then again, if we get a guy like Childress, I wouldn't be opposed to giving Moore another 1 year deal just to see if there's anyway he could improve himself with a new OC/Qb Coach also.

Kolb as a starter... per NFL.com

170/274 1915yds 11td 10 int

81.1 QB Rating

Bradford...

76.5 QB Rating

Again not advocating for Kolb to the Panthers

just wanted to make a point about draft value. :banghead:

Kolb's entire offensive system, from style to coordinator to receivers to playbook, is built for QB success.

Bradford doesn't even have a true #1 in STL, so that argument is a little weak.

I think all our guys could conceivably get the benefit of a doubt like that.

Yep. Because in no way would I even trade Anderson for Kolb. Anderson was one of the very, very few bright spots on this team. Kolb, aside from being in a very qb friendly system, hasn't really done anything worthy of.......well, anything.

    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the faviotes and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destorying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, no many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that denfese took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
    • Who cares if he paid for such small benefits out of his own pocket? The NCAA is a joke. They need to be offering such anyway, especially for Uber rides (which actually seems like a good idea).
