It looks like Rivera is the man but who will be the cordinators?

Well it looks like Ron Rivera will be our next coach. I really think this is a good choice but who are we going to get for our offensive and defensive coordinators?

I know we have been looking at also getting Rob Ryan and Perry Fewell, and Greg Manusky as head coaches but could we be looking at getting them for our next defensive coordinator? out of those three Rob Ryan would be the guy I want. Fewell would be the next guy I would want followed by Manusky.

If we aren't looking at getting any of these guys who else could we be looking at getting at D coordinator? does Rivera get to choose his staff?

I don't think we have made any interviews on Offensive coordinators which could mean we want a coach that is still coaching in the playoffs. I honestly believe that we need to get a top notch guy that already has experience at the position. Offense is our biggest need and I feel that we don't need to take a risk and sign an unexpericed OC. Jeff Davidson didn't work out for us and I believe JR will not take the same approach as he did last time on our OC.

I think Mike Martz would be a great OC for us, but he is under contract so the only way we could have him next year is by offering him a head coaching job. Brian Schottenheimer would be a great fit and we could have a very similar players(young qb, Good Rbs,O-line). JR has clearly said the coaches he wants are ones that fit our philosophy. What is our Philosophy by the way? Does JR still want us to be that conservative run first team? I really hope we change our offensive game but if JR wants to stick to the same philosophy then I guess that means same ole conservative offense.

Also here is an artical from the local News and Observer on possible canidates, some are about head coaching prospects but it seems we already found our guy.

What do you guys think?

I can't see why we would expect someone to leave one job for the same job here

unless there's big issues where they're at .

Well I know we can't get any cordinators unless we offer them a head coach job or unless their contract is up. I am just saying some of theses guys I would want as a head coach if Ron Rivera doesn't work out and some of theses guys I would want as a coordinator if their contract runs out.

I'm sure Rivera (if he does become the coach as is being reported in many media circles) has his own list of possible coordinators to bring with him. Many guys won't accept a job if they are to be saddled with coaches they have no say so about. It's probably within the new HC's perview to talk with one of the coaches we just let go. I'd like to see Meeks back myself. But any new coach will no doubt be able to name his entire staff.

Maybe we could bring back Meeks as a secondary coach? I believe he was a secondary coach for the falcons when they went to the Superbowl in the late 90's. The secondary has played well in the two seasons he was DC and his past teams have had a pretty good secondary(when healthy).

I disagree...I think Meeks was horrible

    • Bryce hasn't done a single thing to prove he deserves to have his option picked up.  I'd have less of an issue with us declining the option and bringing him back as the starter next year than I would have us picking up that option, as that means he's on our cap books for the next 2 years instead of 1, even if he's cut before year 5. Tua threw for 3,500 yards with a 25-8 TD-INT ratio in just 13 starts the year before they picked up his option, and then threw for over 4,600 yards before they gave him his extension. Kyler threw for 3,722, 3,971, and 3,787 in 16, 16, and 14 games (while rushing for 544, 819, and 423 in those seasons) before they picked up his option and then signed him to an extension before year 4. Jones threw for 3,200 yards with a 3-1 TD-INT ratio with another 700 yards and 7 TDs rushing in year 4 before they signed him to his extension. Bryce has thrown for 2,877 and 2,400 yards in 16 and 12 starts his two seasons, while being on pace for 3,128 yards in a 17 game season so far this year. The closest comparison to any of them was Jones, who while he's turned it around this year, is someone I think everyone can agree was not a player who deserved that extension after that season. If people think those other QB's having their options picked up and/or given extensions were a mistake, in what world can you look at what Bryce has done and make any rational argument for him even being brought back as our starter next year, let alone also picking up his option that would cost us about $27 million fully guaranteed.
    • I don't think we would actually play Hooker but hopefully we also just don't see. I don't view Dalton/Bryce as a worse option than Winston/Howell. I just think we disagree on this specific subject is all.
    • I guarantee tepper would fire him if we lost out and he’d be justified
