I don't think it's out of the question. Their roots do run deep and Payton has huge respect for Fox since they are BFF's.

I think he would have no problem coaching in the NFL South.

He may not get the chance, at least not at the NFL level.

The remaining openings are in Oakland (not an option) Cleveland (looking for an offensive coach) and Denver. The Broncs are a possibility, but they're also interviewing Gregg Williams.

Fox and Sean Payton are good friends from way back, and it'd be a smart move for New Orleans since Fox knows the personnel here.

The choice Denver makes could be key.

If Williams leaves, and Fox doesn't get a head coaching job, then I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Fox end up in New Orleans. And there would be nothing classless about it. We let him go, so nothing should stop him from taking a job with a rival.

Didn't Payton already court Fox a few weeks ago? Yeah, this is a good possibility if Denver goes with Williams.

It's possible if Greg Williams is hired away, Sean Payton and John Fox have allot of history and Payton was praising Fox earlier in the season.

I would love to see this simply because it would add more to the rivalry and I'd love to see our offense light-up Fox's defense. Imagine all the clapping and gum chewing that would take place?

That would be nice. But a more likely scenario would be Fox's defense beating the piss out of our O.

I wouldn't want to see Fox go to a divsion rival, whether it be as a head coach or a coordinator.

You'd expect an early advantage to New Orleans because Fox would know our people well.

Within a year or so though, between roster turnover and changes in scheme, that advantage would be nullified.

You'd also have to factor in that we would know his tendencies. Naturally, he could change them, but "Fox" and "change" are two words that haven't gone together much.
