Baz to Bears, O'Brien to New England

Too bad to lose Brett. Not a huge stretch to say he might instantly become at least the second best QB on roster.

As to O'Brien, word is that nobody who had to work with him during his prior stint here would want him back. He's said to be a world class douchebag.

Wow, I remember so many threads about Basanez over the past several years on here. Some saw potential but everyone in the organization loved his work ethic as he always seemed to be striving to become better by watching tape and doing all those little things that get noticed.

Now he just kind of fades away.

Not many on here thought much about him...

Baz has potential. I'm kind of a homer, I used to watch him play on saturdays for 3 years. But he broke every Northwestern QB record, several BigTen records, and finished #13 in NCAA history in total yards.

Naysayers will say it was the system, not the QB. I will admit that it was a quick pass offense with a lot of very short quick routes which will undoubtedly inflate a QBs #'s to a certain extent. What people forget to mention is that he did this with no talent around him. He never had a single big play threat or go-to tight end. Not one of his wideouts or TE's was ever even drafted.

I'm still astonished he did as well as he did considering how many passes I watched bounce off receivers hands.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
