Peterson is great no doubt but if Meeks is running the secondary will he be wasted if we continue to run primary zone and not man coverage? Seems to me that conventional wisdom puts the emphasis on safety play and deep coverage as much or more than corner play. He appears very sound in man coverage and as a returner. I would like to see if we can find a poor man's Peterson in perhaps the third or fourth round. But then again if we could find a stud DE or a top rated quarterback who falls to the third, then it could free us up to get Peterson. Just don't know if he is the primary need at this point.

i also think we run alot of zone coverage so peterson might not fit what rivera is looking for, but we could still find a way to use his talents IMO if he is who we want

Isn't Meeks just coaching the secondary? I would imagine that McDermott is going to be calling the plays and in doing so will be determining the coverages.

Saying peterson is a waste because we are going to be running some zone is the same thing as saying fairlys a waste because we will be running some 3-4 sets

I think Peterson gives us a shut down corner along with an offensive threat on punt return and kickoff return duties. Our team has been searching for someone to take over these duties for a couple of years trying out several players. We need a threat at this position giving us a score or good field position. This helps our offense and makes the defense better. WIN WIN

i've actually been pleasantly surprised at how good captain is at punt returns.

I really don't want to be using our #1 corner and #1 pick seriously as a return man. If PP is as good in coverage as people say I'd be a little hesitant to stick him out there to be hammered regularly.
