Which players are most deserving of winning the Stanley Cup? - ESPN

1. Brent Burns, Carolina Hurricanes

Age: 40
Cup Worthiness Rating: 110

There's no one else in the NHL quite like Brent Burns. He has played 21 seasons, making the transition from forward to defense and then excelling on the blue line. He's the current leader among active defensemen in points (910 in 1,497 games) during the regular season, and fourth in the playoffs (77).

He has been to the conference finals three times, and the Stanley Cup Final once. He has a year-round playoff beard and carries around a large bag filled with many mysterious items.

If he wins the Stanley Cup, it'll be a moment to live out a hockey dream. And more importantly, it means he can introduce the Stanley Cup to the menagerie of animals at his 420-acre Texas ranch.

NHL 25: Nichushkin scores twice, Avalanche advance to Second Round

It was another classic Game 7 battle between the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
