This year he has weapons, he has an oline, he has a good play caller, so this really is make or break year imo

Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.

I’m optimistic but I’m setting an expectation that he could revert at times…there could be ruts where he looks pretty bad again. The Reich year and the first two last is hard to unsee.

His play needs to show us this year that we have no questions at QB. If he is looking questionable during/after a 3rd season, then we absolutely should be looking around. I just pray we don’t fall into the dead zone where he looks slightly above average, we still don’t sniff the playoffs but the org will be willing to commit in 2026.

So can we all at least agree that he's physically able to play the position at a high level? There were a lot of weird takes on here before like:

1. he's too short to see the field. all of his passes will be batted down. he'll have to do that hop pass just to get the ball over defenders. he just won't ever be effective passing in the middle of the field. and will never be able to take snaps from under center.

2. he's too small; he'll get injured the first time he's hit; he'll go down whenever he's touched by a defender

3. he's too slow to outrun defensive linemen. he just won't be able to escape the rush or make defenders miss. 

4. his arm is just too weak to throw the deep out in tight coverage. or to complete a deep pass

Did I miss anything? And he showed he was able to do all of those things his rookie season. Just not consistently. Obviously the problem was always  mental. Confidence and trust in his team mates.

Last year was not a high level. He needs to improve a lot more than 1 game agaisnt the Falcons that looked like a preseason scrimmage game. He still looks very limited physically from an NFL standpoint. He hit backup levels at times and needs to show way more consistently.

Oh I disagree. I completely disagree. He played very well against KC and Philly. They were both in the Super Bowl.

I am not sure you can watch him and not take away that he is isnt limited in what he do.  The bouncy in the pocket, the throws that sail in the air etc are dead giveaways

So you watched those games, and you don't think he played very well? Stats don't always tell the story. Like XL's TD drop to take the lead against PHI at the end of the game. 

Again. Not about stats. There are a lot of factors that help or take away from QB stats. Do you still think his "physical limitations" prevent him from being a good QB?

Good is semantics.  But no I dont think he can ever be an elite qb consistently in the nfl due to his limitations.

Jalen Hurts went 14 of 21 for 108yds in that same game too...

If we're gonna cherry-pick stats, of course.

Ok. That's fair. He doesn't have to be elite to win a super bowl though. Just clutch. See Jalen Hurts. 

I know they gave up a lot for a non-elite QB, but that's a sunk cost. Can't keep getting distracted by that. 

Hopefully, he continues to improve on the things he can do.
