Full disclosure, was not at all a fan of this pick in the 2nd BECAUSE I generally view him as being very limited in his pass rush ability. 

That said, he does have the makeup to be very capable of replacing Clowney, long term.

I'm not a big fan of the sack statistic over actually being disruptive. Burns showed us that. Yeah, he'd get sacks, but he wasn't a consistent disruptive force on the edge. I'd rather see 0 sacks and causing problems on drop back half of the time.

I agree. I think Umanmielen will end up being the better pass rusher.

Actually the biggest criticism of Burns was usually that he generated lots of pressures(top 10 more than once) but he was rarely able to finish.

He was consistently top ten in pressures and win rate on pass rushes. Just doesn't get sacks. Lol

I don't think Jones and Wonnum are gonna exactly be stiff competition. If he can't beat those guys, he isn't likely to be ready to play.

Sacks are a function of the scheme you run and the quality of your pass defense. Many sacks are coverage sacks because your secondary stopped the short pass and gave your rushers time to get to the quarterback. One gap schemes generate more sacks from your d- line while 2 gap schemes tend to concentrate sacks on linebackers and blitzers. So how successful any of our D line will be will depend on Evero's scheme. If we rush three again and no blitzes we won't be getting sacks.  If we use more press coverage and start 6 guys on the line and confuse the blocking assignments and use more blitzes, stunts and overloads Brown and company could feast. Guys will get more work as they learn the system and playing time as they produce on the field.

Scourton is an OLB / edge in the Panthers 3-4 scheme.

Yes, but he's a run stuffing edge. Which is something we've been lacking for while. I'm just saying the combo of him and derrick brown is going to be a lot for offenses to account for in the run game.

      Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15

      I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.

      What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
