Well, the Niners just doomed themselves to mediocrity

Really hoping Bryce takes the next step in proving he can be a franchise QB. But if he doesn't, I really hope that the Panthers can accept it and move on.

Let us pray.

It's even funnier that those were the good old days...

When Tepper promised us that the days of mediocrity were over I don't think this is what any of us had in mind. Now we long for those days of "mediocrity". LOL

In reality, we were rarely mediocre. We just ran very hot or cold. We were balling or we were sucking and not much in between.

He poo the bed in the playoffs, but true bums can't do what he did last year, no matter the talent around them.

He's somewhere between what he was with the Jets and what he was last year, where that is I'm not sure.

He is a poor man's Ryan Fitzpatrick. Yes he can get hot for stretches but more playing time reveals he is a backup QB only.

This is us in two years.  I wouldn't be making fun of the 49ers.  Purdy got that deal as Mr. Irrelevant.  We had the #1 overall pick.  Talk about a team crippling contract.  They still still have a window if their key players can stay healthy.  We haven't even reached a window yet, let alone it being open.

He's an asset in a game manager role. But as soon as you have to ask him to go out there and try to make plays and not just take what the defense is giving him... well, Darnolding happens.

This is a bad take dude..... Fitzpatrick was far far more turnover prone if anything hes a less turnover prone Fitzpatrick

He isn't going to play better just because he got paid and he has already been in a SB with a great team that they lost.

They did lose it to another great team, though.

I think he's a good to really QB and he handles the system they give him very, very well. When he has his weapons on the field, the team is one of the best in the league. Without them, well, they still outperformed us.

I think we'll see him and them in the playoffs regularly over the next five years, maybe another run for the trophy. If so, money well spent. If not, they're no worse off than say Dallas or Atlanta, Cleveland or New York (take your pick).

He is a good enough QB in a prefect sytem for him. The problem with the playoffs is that good usually isn't good enough. Trying to build a perfect team around good enough QB is more miss than hit historically, and good luck keeping that together if you'relucky enough to hit. They are a perinial playoff team for sure but they have been that with a top D and oodles of talent well before they drafted Purdy so nothing new. They have always been a QB away from getting over the hump of being a playoff team vs a SB winner. No real difference since Smith was there. Still no SB and now it looks like nothing has changed but the odds getting worse for them.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
