Rob has been great but this is far as he will ever take us with his defensive first system. Florida plays the same system. They just do it better with better players. Unfortunately, this is what we’re gonna get.

Unfortunately I agree. This is as far as Rod takes us. Against elite teams, his style is trash vs elite playoff hockey

I think it’s the system. He plays defensive first. But we don’t have the guys. Small soft and old.

Florida plays the same system, yet the system is the problem? Florida has better players, yet Rod is the problem? The style is trash against elite teams, yet the defending champions play the same style?

Florida plays "generally" the same system with some key differences especially offensively they dont just cycle and hope for shots they drive the net and ALWAYS have guys screening the goalie....

I think it funny you guys want Rods head when the team that is kicking his teeth in is playing his style of game with better players.

That style wins. Problem is we are way too soft to match the physicality that Florida brings (as are most teams judging by the easy work that the canes made of the devils and capitals as well as the panthers winning the cup last year and well on their way to making their third consecutive final).

Yea they lost the SC finals 2 years ago to Vegas which plays the same way.  Big neanderthal forwards that beat people up and score dirty goals.

Why is it so hard for some people to understand its not about similar styles and one team is better at it than the other. Its about 1 team, us, that isnt even playing their own style and look demoralized from the moment the puck drops and then playing like dogshit. That is all on Rod.

The Canes physically dominated 2 of the top 16 teams in the league this calendar month. If you truly believe Florida is just that much more physical than us, then what does that say about the rest of the league? Why didn't they go 82-0 this year, if they are orders of magnitude better than every other team?

Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.

If they lost a close 7 game series to the Panthers no one would be saying this but they are getting absolutely DOG DICKED on their home ice. They are getting swept again and I don't know how long they can keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Brindamour isn't going to bring them a championship when every year they fall apart when the games matter most.

Seems most fans are happy just being good and making the playoffs since I got lambasted on Twitter and Reddit for saying Rod has proven he can't win a cup as a coach. 19 downvotes and counting. Lmfao

    • All true, Stafford and Mccvay were both talking about "retiring" during those future picks too, I member. In my computer when you make future trade, I feel you have to factor in the worst case or close to it from your side. The big issue for the panthers, maybe even now is that they have not proven they can draft well enough to trade. I know that Dan and company have not traded future picks and they seem to always want 7-8 picks overall. They like to trade 3 picks for 3 picks or 2 for 2.   It would have been great to flip BB for that haul and use those Rams picks instead of the first overall pick...... Verse wise, Jesus what a beast....... Garrett is the top dawg and all, but man this is rough for me. I also noticed this about the panthers they are pedo bears, they like dem young. So a 25 year old verse would have gotten gigged with the panthers. Even with NIL and 6th year, and even coofus fallback, panthers prefer younger players. Monroe Freeling (Round 1, Pick 19 | OT, Georgia): 21 years old Lee Hunter (Round 2, Pick 49 | DT, Texas Tech): 22 years old (estimated) Chris Brazzell II (Round 3, Pick 83 | WR, Tennessee): 22 years old Will Lee III (Round 4, Pick 129 | CB, Texas A&M): 21-22 years old (estimated) Sam Hecht (Round 5, Pick 144 | C, Kansas State): 21-22 years old (estimated) Zakee Wheatley (Round 5, Pick 151 | S, Penn State): 22 years old (estimated) Jackson Kuwatch (Round 7, Pick 227 | LB, Miami OH): 22-23 years old   Tetairoa McMillan, WR (Arizona) — Age: 22 Nic Scourton, EDGE (Texas A&M) — Age: 20 Princely Umanmielen, EDGE (Ole Miss) — Age: 21 Trevor Etienne, RB (Georgia) — Age: 20 Lathan Ransom, SAF (Ohio State) — Age: 23 Cam Jackson, DT (FL)- age 22 Mitchell Evans, TE (ND)- age 22 Horn-22   Fitterererere just turned out to be a awful hire, too green, too willing to please, no sense of what talent looks like on teams other than Seahawks, too much pressure, didnt have the correct network of coaches and FO office people. Kick was herniay leftd him with a bare bones talent to start with and besides taking a bottom level team and improving it, he made it even worse AND trading prime draft picks to prolong the timeline to fix. People forget Dan didn't have the 1st overall pick and 39th overall(that dude looking good for bears) to repair this team. Dan could have traded that 1st overall for a proven 1k WR, 9th overall, future 1st and future 2nd......
    • When I read the OP I was thinking more of the Franchise than the league but I agree.  To me DB is the only guy right now but I could see TMac being on the list.
    • “All-timers” usually stand out early and often.  There really isn’t much wiggle room.  Not many of the greats magically figured it out 3-4 years in.  Franchise greats is another story.  They don’t even have to be all that good to become a legend.  One play or game can make a guy a hometown hero.
