Wonder why they have not resigned Pinero and added him to the PK competition. Not saying he should have the job but only having a rookie and another dude that has been on several teams does not seem like a fantastic plan.

His leg is too weak and its a liability for the offense.   Not even having the option to kick a 50ish yard FG throttles down the offense.

very nice read, btw. nice to see all that shaking out. i think the TE room will be ok.

I found it interesting that Evero would mention DJ Johnson and fail to mention the rookies.  Not that means anything about the rookies, but I can only think of Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy--both became relevant in year 3.  I think he gets cut, but mentioning a player in that manner with 1/2 sack and 25 tackles in 2 years is a bit strange.

I suspect that's likely Wright's issue as well and why he's never stuck on a team and bounced around. Probably a good kicker, just limited leg. The guy has made 87% of his FG attempts and has only missed two XPs ever. But if you aren't good from close to 60 they're looking for your replacement.

yep it hinders or alters your offense when you cross the 50 yard line and knowing you have to get 20ish more yards at least to put you in FG range.  I suspect you call plays a bit differently as well.

I think he was an Evero type player. I suspect he was a guy that Evero asked for early on and is still one of "his" guys.

Another in a long list of reasons why Evero will eventually have to be canned.

Yeah, I think in Wright they basically see a Pinero replacement. Accurate, limited leg kicker but instead of a guy in Pinero who thinks he should be one of the highest paid kickers in the league you have a guy in Wright who would be absolutely thrilled just to have a job. Then you have Fitzgerald who they're hoping wins the job and is the long term solution. We'll see how it all plays out. Fitzgerald is Plan A and Wright is Plan B and I think everyone involved fully realizes this.

If he's gonna break out, he better do it quick.  He'll be 27 this fall.

last year i think he sat out of camps waiting for a new deal that he never got so that probably put a bit of a stink in the relationship between him and the panthers.

    • I'm trying to be as pragmatic and as un reactionary as possible. And once again multiple things can be true  His draft last year was disastrously terrible. X looks like an absolute bust. Brooks hasn't played. Wallace looks like a miss. But demani needs more pt, cws is solid and Coker has shown promise This draft cannot be judged after 2 games esp with a dc who doesn't want to play them. But tmac looks legit. Princely has promise. The rest is a ?  Has he made mistakes? Undoubtedly.  Is the roster better than it was 2 years ago? I'd say yes. I'd say our biggest problems are still the ones we had 2 years ago - Bryce and evero.  And as I've said before, at least he hasn't traded any future picks. Yet.  So IMHO Morgan is a mixed bag but not a total bust. Yet.
    • I'd rather have a raffle to pick a random fan to start at QB than see Bryce trot out there again. That actually sounds wildly entertaining. I'd actually MUCH rather have that. LOL
    • I think being out on Dan is shortsighted; here are the two immediate reasons that stick out to me. 1) Inherited a grossly undersized QB with no real tangible physical traits that offset his size that the prior offensive staff did not want, who appears to be an all-time bust. Bryce isn't ''elite'' in any physical category, athleticism, arm strength, nothing, even his ''superpower'' aka his processing, does not show up. Not to mention that he is in his 3rd year and is still built like an HS senior. 2) The roster was terrible, the fact that we have halfway established some depth on both sides of the ball is commendable considering we are at the top of his 2nd year at the helm; we have not seen bad contracts handed out, and we've seen relatively smart trades. Even the Thielen one, because he's 35 and we got 4th round value for a guy who was not part of the long-term plans, did we miss him these past two games...sure. However, we were not a playoff team with him anyway.
