I 100% wanted AR15 over BY.

*I also stated AR need at the very very least to sit a whole NFL season, I was 100% with that as well.

colts named him starter before Panthers did with BY..

he needed a red shirt and who knows then with the right leadership.

He will never be able to make it as an NFL QB. Maybe if he played some special teams and could catch he could be a poor man's Taysom Hill but that is about the extent of his ceiling. More likely than not, he will probably be permanently out of the NFL in 3-4 years.

Now do Josh Allen.

Just saying. They were similar prospects except that Allen was even more wildly inaccurate.

There are similarities between the two in terms of trying to develop a raw passer. Allen's best season in college was with 56% completion. But unfortunately for AR he was even more raw and has apparently been pretty full of himself thinking he already arrived. And also the coaches were too willing to use him as a runner. All in all another example of ultimately squandering talent. All too common in this league.

They threw him to the wolves.

He needed to sit a year and rework his footwork.

I wanted to sit at #9 and take him if he fell (he obviously didn't) - I didn't envision him being so fragile.

Josh Allen was not nearly as bad as AR-15.  Josh wasn't the most accurate passer in college, but he wasn't nearly as scatter shot as Richardson.  To make things worse, Anthony came out as a RSO.  Really young, inexperienced AND major accuracy issues? Big red flags for me.

Allen was borderline unplayable in College.

He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.

Ehhhh except a lot of it was his refusal in college not to play hero ball.....

The two things he greatly improved at the NFL level were his accuracy on the run and learning he didn't have to take the deep shot every play.

That said when taking a massive boom or bust athlete at QB the most important thing is their work ethic/coachability/desire to improve

I suspect it has a lot more to do with him just not doing the work.

He should have stayed in college for a couple of more seasons.

Yeah, that's why I roll my eyes so hard when people throw out Allen with the Fields or AR situations. That is such an extreme outlier that there are few that rival them. One could certainly make an argument for Lamar Jackson(57% career passer in college) but I think some of that was scheme at Louisville.

I do also want to point out that people STILL believe in Justin Fields despite the unbelievable amount of evidence he is completely incapable of being more than a gimmick, run first, check down QB.

It is flabbergasting the amount of chances some of these busts get.

32 teams with only about 6 or 7 good QBs will do that. Desperation is an ugly thing. lol

Some of it was definitely scheme with Jackson like Allen he did a lot with his legs and when he did throw it was a lot of lower % passes.

Allen had zero talent around him and almost never threw passes with less than 15 air yards in college.... thats not gonna lead to a great %%

To be fair, some of those 30 yard passes were to receivers only 10 yards down field. LOL

    • So to suggest that our offensive weapons might not be as horrible as being claimed if we were to have Josh Allen throwing to them instead of Bryce is a stretch? Maybe they would be better, maybe not. But I'm not going to keep saying we need more weapons and more this and more that with a QB that struggles to get 200 yards passing in a game.  You're right, our receiving corp was ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league. Who was throwing to them? A bottom 3rd QB.  If the team wants to get better it has to be serious about the QB position. We aren't and no amount of adding weapons is going to solve the fact Bryce is a bottom tier QB or that the most serious camp competition he has ever faced was Andy Dalton.  If Carolina fans were watching any other franchise entrench themselves so vehemently around this level of QB production, we'd be laughing like he'll and waiting for our chance to play them twice a year.
    • I’ll also say agin, this is why I think we’re in a great spot this year to trade down, and maybe meeting with all these WRs is a smokescreen to try and make a WR needy team over trade to get our pick so we don’t take the guy they want. While at the same time, if Downs falls outside the Top 10, I’d be comfortable with darn near any trade involving our 2027 1st, to move up and get him.  He’s going to be one of th best Safeties in the game for years to come.
    • Teams we are better than in regards to the wr room without a doubt and there are other teams you could easily debate Ravens Pats bills miami pats jets ravens  browns jags (debatable for sure) titans Chiefs Raiders Giants (debatable) Saints  Skins
