2025 College Football Thread

Seems like a ton of people were ready at their keyboards to say Arch is a bum, seemingly forgot this is his first season starting football games and he's a redshirt Sophomore. That means he could play the 2025, 2026, AND the 2027 college seasons before going to the draft.

It's obvious that he needs more experience and won't be coming out after the 2025 season, but saying he's an outright bum was jumping the gun

Arch didn't have a crazy game but played efficiently and accurately. Texas mostly won by virtue of
(a) stifling defensive performance
(b) run game actually doing something

(c)  Punt return TD by Niblett.

(d) Arch not turning the ball over

Texas got a crucial player back on defense in Malik Muhmmad (CB) that was a key factor.

This was literally the only game I've watched of Oklahoma, and John Mateer play and I wasn't impressed. But I'm guessing it may have had something to do with Mateer coming back from injury as well.

I feel like you're a Texas fan.

Nope. I only started watching college football consistently last season (2024). I follow the most interesting team. That was Colorado last year, and Texas this year.

Basically I have a team I cheer for every year based on the stories/players. Arch seemed like the most interesting player to watch  just like Travis and Sheddur were last year.  (Not objective, just my own opinion).

I am actually a UNC-CH alumni. I don't really care about their football program but I do get a lot of news about Bellicheck and the shenanigans going on there lol

As much as people were clowning Texas and Arch Manning, they have come alive this game vs Oklahoma. Texas run game has opened up finally, and the defense is clamping down on John Mateer, who has thrown 3 interceptions already.  Arch has looked solid.

Isn’t Mateer playing with a bad elbow?

Penn State LOSES to North Western, is the biggest headline from today thus far.

I listened to the Mizzou vs Bama game on the radio, it was strangely close for most of it. Mizzou's QB lost them that game with key turnovers. Bama looked shaky in some moments.

I watched Texas vs Oklahoma just now.

I'm going to watch South Carolina vs LSU tonight. First time I'm going to watch LaNorris Sellers.

    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
    • He had the award until like the last 8 games. He sucked ass and flagg had 3 40 point games
