no fan fest thread and no videos from fan fest, even on twitter?

what the hell has happened to coverage on this team? fan fest used to be like a mini preseason game.

no thread on here, and only a few tweets from our beat writers on twitter? no videos?

in a time where we have more social media coverage and options, why does it feel like I'm having to do forensic research to find anything on my team other than a zoomed in slow motion play from camp?

sad, really.

There's FanFest content posted on BlueSky, if that helps

I don't know why, but thinking about this thread made me think of my son's remarks to me back in the spring. He was born in '98. I don't remember what we were exactly talking about, but I do remember his question. He said, "Dad, why out of all the NFL teams did you pick a loser?"

He's low on the Panthers, man. He says that I make the same excuses every year. He doesn't believe in Bryce as a viable starter at all and basically thinks the last few games of last season weren't impressive and that Bryce is fool's gold. He liked Cam, but wasn't completely sold that he'd get us over the top. He even says things like "y'all" in reference to Panthers fans at times. Perhaps it's just to get on my nerves---make a statement---but maybe there's somewhat of a real disconnect on his part. But he does watch every game with me and roots for the team...but they haven't won anything of note in a long time. The rollercoaster at least use to rise sometimes--win one season, lose one season. Now, it's lose every season. The magic is lost and we haven't been able to find it. It's going to take winning, not just competing, but winning. That is the only way the Panthers fan base is going to be legitimately energized. And consistent winning will be the capstone of a strong, longstanding and viable franchise.

Couple contributing factors.

1. We've been dreadful.

2. We're owned by the Tepper's.

3. Last years fanfest was pretty much the same as far as attendance and overall enthusiasm level. And I distinctly remember the people who did attend and make an effort to watch summarizing it as basically a shitshow.

Then we proceeded to rest the starters for all of preseason and got the doors blown off weeks 1 and 2.

All of the above is a recipe for what you see. Now if the Panthers look good in preseason and start the season off with some fight and swagger you will see people come back. Right now it just is what it is.

So what you're saying is your son is a Bryce hater. Or so that's what I've been told here by certain people if someone indicates rational skepticism.

It’s really hard to get a young kid interested in a loser other than it being ‘dad’s team.’ Kids like fun. What’s fun about 3 and outs and historically bad defense? It’s even harder in a state/region where college sports still dominate the popularity contest.

Those of us who lived the magic of 03 and 15, we know what it’s like to pull for a winner. To go in to a game as the 7 point favorite…. but it’s been a decade now.

We all hate the thought…. But this team needs, gasp, a bandwagon. It really does.

Win games and market players that embody the ‘brand’. Delhomme, Smith, Dan, Cam, Luke, Davis, Greg, Mills, etc. Dawgs with swag. Many ‘fans’ only tune in (at least initially) to cheer on their guy. They can’t name 3 other players on the team.

Recipe for Big Mamma’s Original bandwagon chili:

1. Team gets good. Gets fun.
2. Newbies watch, have no idea what the hell is going on, but they hear the same names called on every big play.
3. They get to liking a certain dude and now have ‘their guy.’
4. They buy the jersey.
5. They now watch primarily to see their guy ball out, but winning is cool too.
6. Hopefully they learn more names and how football is played.

Since the exodus of Cam, who are now those guys? Blue chippers. It just hasn’t been fun.

No headliner. No winning…. your ‘player only’ fans? Hasta la vista, baby. Gone. We saw it on the huddle with the Cam only fans.

They cheat on you. They’ll start watching grandpa’s team… the one here before the Panthers… that one in Washington. Those dudes seem to be doing pretty well these days.

This team NEEDS Young to be Mighty Mouse. It’s too late to go shopping for another franchise QB. Too many of the current offensive players will be way too expensive in 2-3 years unless Dan can walk on draft water. The window is now.

Inevitably, all teams decline as franchise QBs leave and coaching staffs turn over. The hope is to have retained a decent percentage of the bandwagon who eventually learned the game and migrated from ‘player fan’ to ‘team fan.’

They hang on, stay thirsty for the next go round, and have hardened in spirit enough to endure the down years. Our numbers are dwindling.

I would disagree on the window being now. If Young pans out to be a franchise QB, the window is basically his career effective length. Outside of him, there is really very little PROVEN talent on the roster. So, I think the window for non-QB talent has yet to be reached at all.

This is a building process and not anything close to a finished product.

Seriously, training camp and fanfest reports don’t excite me especially since the team hasn’t been winners since 2017.

People are still enjoying (or not enjoying) their summers and you expect a full rundown of FANFEST!

Get out there and do the reports yourself if you’re worried about it

"go out and do the reports yourself", really bro? I live in LA. I rely on the dozens of college grads we hire to run our social media along with all of these losers that are paid to cover the team to provide content during the golden age of media. the social media team is only posting extremely zoomed in videos of one or two plays like we're hiding some sort of super secret plays that people can pay $5 bucks to video from the stands lmfao.

I think that people like you are having trouble separating the two topics here:

the huddle is the huddle, I'm in my mid thirties too, have 3 kids and a business, I get that not everyone can be on here, but yeah I thought it was a little sad that there was no thread for fan fest. It's nostalgic to log back in here some times and see people chatting about it. I get that we suck, but still. we have always low key sucked minus a few great seasons.

the main topic is the lack of coverage on the team on social media. yes, after some further digging I was able to find videos from some awesome fans that recorded videos from the stands, but like I said this crap used to be streamed and we would have actual videos of the TD by Jimmy Horn instead of a weird angle on an iphone or a super zoomed in version for some weird reason.

I understand that this board is probably dead in the water and I need to go to tiktok now for my team coverage, but it's almost as if our teams shitty social media and our shitty beat writers are the reason for that. at the end of the day, the panthers only exist because of it's fans, give us what we're looking for, don't make me hunt for it, and I have every right to bitch about it because this is a fan forum for an entertainment source.

That did get lost a lot in the excitement that he was finally playing competent football. He was basically a bottom third of the NFL starting caliber QB.

We don't need to see more of the same, we need to see improvement and really, a lot of it.

This right here.

The Huddle is dying and the sooner y’all realize that, the better.

Yall are not fun to be around. If you looked for Panthers content outside the Huddle, you’d see it’s everywhere.

Eh. Broader social media is not what I would call fun either. 95% is either an entitled influencer an entitled wannabe sports journalist just trying to go viral or tribal factions of fans trying to own one another over their difference in opinion. Social media is not some utopia of clear thinking and peaceful dialogue head and shoulders better than a place like the huddle.

Social media is the greatest poison of the last 20 years. I firmly believe that history will judge it to be worse than the opium epidemic.
