Possible the Browns are looking to trade Shadeur?

If the Browns thought he was good, why would they trade him? That's some 4D chess they're playing if they finally have a QB answer and they want to immediately get rid of him.

And this is a team with, *checks notes*...

  • Deshaun Watson
  • Joe Flacco's corpse
  • Dillon Gabriel
  • Kenny Pickett
  • AND just signed Tyler Huntley

So again...if he was good...why would they even want to trade him when they're throwing more poo at the wall than we do for bottom of the roster churn?

Nah, I'm good rolling with Bryce this year

I had enough of other teams cast-offs in the Rhule era

And there is a reason the Browns want rid of him, and he almost went undrafted, iirc he had really poor interviews, and his Father comes with him, Dieon would be in Caneles office demanding he starts

In Bryce I trust!!!

I guess its just rare to see.

The Eli Manning deal comes to mind immediately, but yeah the whole draft and trade thing doesn't happen all that often. Those deals usually get made beforehand and they simply trade the pick. The Chargers just couldn't get the deal they wanted prior to the draft and Eli was refusing to play for them so they drafted him and squatted on his rights knowing full well they were trading him.

Can you even trade a rookie before he even plays a down? I know you can cut.

Just last season Panthers traded Michael Barrett 2024 7th rounder for Michael Jackson before the season started. I think it was close to two weeks before Panthers kickoff.

Their goal is this.

1. Joe Flacco is the starter

2. Keep Watson on PUP because you can’t afford to cut him and you don’t want him taking up a roster spot

3. Gabriel and Sanders will be back-ups. Neither are going to the practice squad because someone will pick them up

4. Kenny Pickett is trade bait. If he isn’t a better option than Flacco, then you trade him

5. They can’t keep two veterans on with Watson’s whale of a contract already holding the team down. I believe it was a competition between Pickett and Flacco to start. Whomever loses either gets cut or traded

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
    • I have no doubt the Canes will come out like gangbusters, huge bounce back from game one - my only concern is Freddie, if he lets in a couple of softies and Dobes stays hot we could be in trouble.
